1982 Mercedes Flatbed Tow Truck - Chicago

As posted in the craigslist alert thread, here is a 1982 Mercedes flatbed truck with a 5-speed manual transmission and Turbo diesel engine. This would be the ultimate tow truck to drive around picking up Benzes! They're asking $7500, no afil.

It has a flatbed made by Jerr Dan

Pretty cool! Wonder what fuel economy it gets?

Awesome! I would have a 1116 to go with my 116. If I had kept my 5 speed then both of my vehicles would be 5 cylinder turbo diesels with 5 speeds! I used to see those in Saudi Arabia all of the time (in fact, that's ALL they used over there).

That thing is beautiful, did Mercedes design/build the cab or just the drivetrain? It looks way older than it's year. very cool.

Dude,

Around here you'd have "Rock Star" status with a coool MB truck - not that it would make any difference to the wife....LOL!

Better make sure it has a bench seat to sleep on if the wife really freaks out when you drag it home.

Hmm. My original retirement plan was to get an old Good Humor icecream truck and set up a route. A flatbed like this might change that plan

I always loved the design on those mb trucks.

Why did I have a feeling you'd be calling about this? :D

MY LAST DIESEL-MOTORCOACH HAD A 5.9 LITER ISUZU STRAIGHT-SIX, FOUR STROKE DIESEL ENGINE. I RAN IT TO ONLY 150K!
