Peachparts approved listing: 36F14V0TH

So, it looks like I've decided to wind down the dealership and move down to Florida where there are actually a few things to do for a car enthusiast, no winters, and plenty of other positives compared to living in fly-over country where I am right now. This means a temporary thinning of the herd until I get everything settled. The untouchables are the '85 500SL and the '94 Roadmaster Estate, and the 3 that I'm willing to part with are the 2001 Jaguar XJR, 2002 Mercedes SL500 Silver arrow (listed here), and this E300. I like them all for different reasons, but 2 need to go. Whichever one remains will go with me.

This is the car I kept from the JimmyL trade last December. Jimmy purchased this life long Texas car from the original (was it a dentist?) owner. Work over the course of the original owner included a new wiring harness, evaporator, and rebuilt transmission. Jimmy did quite a bit to it, including new glow plugs, fuel lines, motor mounts and a heat exchanger. Shortly after I got it the newly rebuilt transmission with a documented $1800 repair bill decided to spontaneously grenade. I chose to replace it rather than rebuild with a 90,000 mile used one from California. Of course it runs, drives, and shifts beautifully with 190,000 miles currently.

This car is particularly striking because of its black on black color combo. Very nice condition inside and out. The exterior has a scuff on the front bumper, a few dings, and some surface scratches, but overall presents very, very well. All the paint appears to be original, and of course not a hint of rust. The interior is particularly striking, with only minimal wear on the driver's seat bolster. Everything works on the car currently sans the power antenna (goes up and down manually) and the outside temperature display. The coldest start I did with this car was sitting outside overnight at -5 degrees, and it started just as easily if it were 55 degrees. Tires are Michelins with plenty of tread left. You get over 30MPG no matter what you do.

This one is certainly the simplest and most practical of the 3, but like I said I'll be happy with whichever one follows me down. I'm thinking $6500 is attractive enough considering the biggies this car has out of the way mechanically, the condition, and desirability of these.

Bottom of second paragraph. 190,000.

As for the jaaaag, I'd let it go for $9500.

why does thou tempt me...

suginami 03-23-2011 09:26 PM

That is one clean E300. It's been a long time since I've seen leather in such good condition in a W124 car.

Aquaticedge 03-23-2011 10:12 PM

if this car goes id love to see a peachparts member get it.. i hold hope that this is one you can hang onto

MBeige 03-23-2011 10:40 PM

^^I reflect this guy's sentiments. Hopefully a member buys it, so we can still see it around on the board and it will be taken care of by the collective group.

It's a beautiful car. Didn't realize how nice it was until I saw these photos. Good luck with the sale!

Good luck with the sale. You should have no problem with that asking price / condition. :)

Greetings from Ft. Myers Beach.

If I could let go of it I'd offer my cabriolet (with all new top hydraulics).. but I just can't do it.
