1983 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series LIMO
|
I want it. Maybe I can tell my wife it means we can bring more stuff home from the "Big Box " store.
Beautiful ! |
Its been on fleabay for a few months and at $30k its no surprise...
|
There is already another thread (or two) on Peachparts about this car. I believe it was in DD, possibly OD.
|
Speedo/odo doesn't match the other gauges.
A 300D can barely keep front seat riders air conditioned, and only at certain temps. Can you imagine being in the back of that thing in the summer?? No!! All that aside, it sure is clean!!! |
It's a taxi, not a limo.
|
Ugh. Wrong wheels. Wrong lights.
21k miles? LOL I think they made a typo on the price and added an extra zero. |
I have problems with the wheels, tail lights, and radio. And price. It's a very nice looking taxi though. But not at that price.
|
I wonder if it's the one that belonged to Dan Penoff (well-known on other Mercedes lists) as if memory serves he was in the Naples area.

It would be interesting to know the history of this car. The "mods" (lol) are hideous and the mileage is as believable as a politician. |

I love the way a car with supposedly 21K miles has wear marks on the driver's seat.....
|
Yellow Needles, wear, 21,000 miles.........Right!?!

1982 LWB 200D
You can import one from Europe for less then half of what the guy on eBay is asking!
Yeah, 20K miles + how many kilometer's? Looks like a used mph speedometer was (recently?) installed to hide the actual mileage (the other gauges don't look to be as faded). I noticed a close up pic of the import plaque on the door jamb is absent, so we can't tell when it was brought over. It could be easily made right (to be fair the interior is in pretty good shape condition wise), but $30K? Really? Check out this '82 LWB 200D I found! So much better looking with the original hubcaps! And it has a flag holder on the fender, cool! Just $8K USD + shipping costs! I'd call it a factory limo unless MB says otherwise. Many manufacturers use the quarter panels / tail from a 2 door and grafted it to a 4 door center section. Cadillac did this in the 50's , Chrysler did this even in the 80's with the K car making a executive sedan. Volvo did cars like this too. |

FWIW, I just looked up the VIN in the EPC, it comes up as a factory LWB W123 300D (W123.132)? I see now it's listed as sold for $18,000! Mercedes produced specifically designed LWB chassis of both the W123 & W124, either as a factory bodied 4 door (W123), 6 door (W124) or with front clip only for ambulance/hearse/van conversion by other coachbuilders (Binz ect.). |
My mistake - I got the W123 LWB thread confused with a 114/115 thread about a "limo" that isn't OEM. I still think it's a taxi though and not a limo!
