To post pictures just scroll down to the bottom, when you're posting something like this. Click on "Manage Attachments" and that will take you to wherever you have your pictures stored. You then pick up to five photos, and then click on "upload." You'll be surprised how easy it is.

There were a couple of posters who mentioned there is NO market for your car. One of them even mentioned the cost of gas being a factor inhibiting the sale of your vehicle. That's all just BS to me. Perhaps someone should enlighten me, but I don't recall Mercedes vehicles being targeted to buyers concerned with gas mileage. It has usually been a wealthy man's car. I stated "usually" because I don't know about their current line-up. I know they have some lower cost C-Series. I'm speaking from my own experience with attempting to sell my 1990 300SE hereon. During the last 24 months it has cost me over $14,000 for the car, parts and services. I did nearly all of the work myself. So, I saved thousands right there. Anyway, I haven't even gotten a $5,000 offer for the car. That's just unbelievable. I thought it would have been snapped up right away when I posted it for sale. I was very wrong. It seems $5,000 is a world of money for most to pay in cash. They seem to have a couple of grand to pay up front. Then, they just pay to fix whatever goes wrong as it comes up. They go hunting for parts in junkyards. They'll spend an entire day trying to save a few bucks not putting any value at all on their time. They're not looking for a fine automobile. What you have is a fine automobile. You need to find the right audience of prospective buyers for it. Good luck. |

I've ended up with too many cars because the prices have gotten stupidly low in the last couple years on average. I think it's just the economy, and anticipate it will turn around sooner or later. But for whatever reason, now is not a good time to sell well-preserved/low-mileage cars. |

Have to agree with fran....
from a while ago.
You NEED pictures to get the juices flowing (on any "for sale"). Someone even volunteered to put them up for you.......or learn to do it....it's really easy (once you've done it) I've been around lots of different cars/trucks for a long time. There's different "honey holes" for different types of cars. Collector cars, muscle cars, "driver" quality old cars & commuters/DDs. FWIW- I think you should advertise in Hemming's or put it on eBay. FWIW (pt. 2) Don't stay glued to this site (or CL) because it's free!!! This site does seem to be more centered on perpetuating the extended use of great old MB cars, in a DIY fashion. It's not lots of glitzy photos, chest pumping and egos (which has it's place). Just my .02 |

Yes, yes, pictures sell cars.
For, perhaps, a little reality of what old benz's from the era can be worth in the current market , read this TTAC article: Rent, Lease, Sell or Keep: 1989 Mercedes-Benz 420 SEL | The Truth About Cars |
