FS: 1992 400E - $1500

Hi everyone,

I’m selling my 1992 400E that I’ve owned since 2001. It’s a higher mileage car with about 255,000 on the odometer. Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.

It runs great, just had it smogged the other day and it passed fine. It doesn’t have any serious mechanical issues; the transmission shifts fine and doesn’t slip. The car has been in a handful of fender bender accidents and shows it on the body on the outside, it’s spent the last 5 years of its life in San Francisco.

Since I’ve had the car I’ve done most all the maintenance on it myself so there won’t be any records since I bought the car, but if you search my profile for old posts you’ll get an idea of what I’ve done to the car since I’ve had it. And since I’ve had the car for so long and have done all the work on it myself I do know what issues it will have in the future. Two things come to mind, eventually the belt tensioner will need to be replaced since the bearing on its pulley has started to squeak slightly and the rear suspension has a squeak which I thought I fixed when I replaced the lower bushings but it came back. The tires will need to be replaced immediately. It does have a new engine wire harness installed.

As for the interior it’s in really good condition and most everything works, the driver’s side seats switches are a bit finicky though. The oil light is now always on and the oil pressure gauge doesn’t work, I believe the sender is bad.

This would be a great car for someone that knows how to work on cars since it does have the high mileage, or would be great has a parts car too. It does have plenty of life in it, I don’t think it going past 300k will be any issue; it runs great and is very reliable, it never let me down in the 10+ years I’ve owned it.

The car will need to be registered; it has a non-op on it currently. The registration won’t be any issue since it was just smogged, it just needs to be paid, it’ll be about $100.

I’m asking $1500 for it, but if that doesn’t seem fair then throw me some offers, let’s make a deal!

Have a look at the photos below, if anyone has any questions please ask away, thanks!
