FS: 1980 300 SD $2,500, low original miles.

Up for sale is my 1980 300SD that has been in my family for 15 years. I bought the car in 1997 and gave it to my parents who kept it in Virginia (yes, I have a copy of their 1997 VA title as well as my clean, clear 2012 Ohio title).
Never wrecked, runs well. A presentable car that needs work to be a good driver. It has 124K miles. I purchased it from Kelly BMW with 112K and my parents put 12K on it in the last 15 years.

I started a restoration project and just don't have the time or energy to complete it.

New Master cyl, new exhaust flex pipe, new tires, new battery, some cosmetic resto completed, new door, trunk, rear window seals, many new parts some of which are on the car, and others included with the car.

It needs: rear calipers, exhaust manifold gasket (manifold is good), rear seat (I have one but in bad shape), various cosmetics and minor rust repair, top is faded but the rest of the paint is original and good, front window motors, if winter use is planned needs heater core, AC is present but does not work, front windshield seal (I have and ready to install). Needs routine fluid and filter service.

This is not a car for someone who is looking for a Mercedes. It is for a Mercedes Diesel nut who is handy with a wrench and appreciates the 116 cars.

This is a 32 year old car SOLD WITHOUT WARRANTY.

I have several parts that go with the car which does NOT include the car cover.

Are W116 rear seats compatible with W123 rear seats?

or with W124/ W126?

The car is interesting if it's in good shape and needs so few things, but I would need some assurances on getting a back seat w/o p[aying 25,000 for it because it's "rare W116."

W124 rear seats won't fit, I loaned Mark a complete rear seat from my 124 parts car, won't work without serious modification.

Need to move it for spring. Price Reduced to $1500. New tires, new battery, new master cylinder, various parts. Runs and drives. I drove it 35 miles from Columbus to home without problem. Needs rear calipers. Priced to move for the right buyer who is looking for a project.

I would only recommend local driving. This car needs a going over to make it road ready for you to drive. While it runs and drives, I will only sell it locally or to someone willing to haul it. I am not comfortable selling to someone planning a long distance drive.

Sold for $1000 which really is a steal but considering the fact that I did not have a line of people chomping at the bit to offer more, one takes what they can get if that is what the market dictates. A fair price based on the work needed, a steal based on the condition of the car and miles.
