This car belongs to my neighbor, and he will probably scrap it soon if no one wants it. It has about $600 in back registration due and has been parked since 2007. It ran a year ago when I put fresh gas in it, but appears to need a timing chain tensioner because it rattles quite a bit. Other than that, both the interior and paint are really sun damaged, but it is straight and not at all rusty. It would be nice if someone could use it for something, I think he is going to scrap it soon if not. Let me know if you have any questions about it or want to come see it.

Still tempted am I, but fuel would double my cost for grabbing it.

Someone save this car from the scrapper. Heck there's over double the asking in straight sheet metal w/o rust.

OP - Ask your neighbor to at least track down a wrecker/dismantler that specializes in benz or euro cars as opposed to an ecology/etc. He may get more for it and the parts would have better chance of living on.

It will probably just go to pick and pull. Unfortunately, a similar car that is registered and running with shiny paint and decent interior would be less than $2k here. I wanted to get it and swap a 420 engine in, but with the $600 to register it I cant afford to do it.

Does he have the caps for the Centra wheels?

83w126 04-23-2013 01:30 PM

Only one cap is there. Those wheels were actually mine, and I traded them for the lorinser wheels that were on it because I had them for over a year and couldnt ever find a set of caps that i could get off (I did see one set, but didnt have the key for them).

Needs to go out of CA, least for awhile. Fix that reg junk.
I got a nice mountain bike I'd give him for it. :)

I'm resurrecting an old thread I know... But is it still available?? The thread is now a year old so I'm seriously doubting it, but it's in my price range, even WITH having to pay for transporation out to Oklahoma.
