Euro 1989 W124 200D 5-Speed

Super rare!! 1989 W124 200D with a 5-speed manual. True "Euro" base model car with cloth interior, fire extinguisher, crank windows, no sunroof, no cruise control, and manual dual-zone climate control. It does have ABS and A/C (ice cold!). The odometer shows 277,000km, but the odometer is not working, so I really have no idea how many miles are on the car, it wasn't working when I bought it. However, the car is in really nice condition both inside and out, I would guess the odometer reading is fairly close to actual.

I purchased it on eBay about a year ago, and have put about 2,000 miles on it. It's been sitting around more than being driven, time for someone else to enjoy it!

I really have not needed to do anything except installing used front springs, because the originals were sagging. The tires have plenty of tread and the brakes feel great. Steering feels good, but could use an alignment, had to take front suspension apart to install springs. The engine starts easily and does not smoke. It is slow, but runs great. The 5-speed trans shifts perfectly with no grinding or hesitation. Clutch grabs fine with no slip or chattering.

The body is in nice shape. There is some minor rust bubbling around the jack points, and a few small bubbles on the rear fascia. The paint is in "OK" shape, a few panels have been repainted before and the finish is dulling in some areas, but the car still presents well. The car has correct Euro headlamps. The glass is in good shape, but the adjuster mechanisms appear to be broken, I'm not able to aim the lights very well.

Overall a super rare, really cool Benz!

Looking for $4,500. Located in Hunterdon County, NJ. Feel free to ask me any questions.

:Pwhats under the hood of a 200d? I love the interior with a lil fabric repair. It looks clean!

Cool Car

In other words, it's a 2.2L, 190D (American Version)?

piccolovic 07-22-2013 05:06 PM

What kind of Fuel Mileage?

piccolovic 07-22-2013 05:07 PM

Would love to trade my '83 300 for that, and pay the diff.

If it's running properly, I'd estimate 30-35mpg or so... maybe a bit more on a long freeway trip and/or with a raw egg taped to the pedal.

:stuart:

Never calculated the fuel mileage, being the odo. does not work. However, it is pretty efficient, even if your foot is to the floor most of the time ;) And yes, the engine is basically the same as a 190D 2.2.
