WTB - 300E 5 spd.

I had no idea such a car even existed until this morning when one of your faithful, Larry Bible enlightened me. he also advised that these cars are rare so I had better start looking now.

Silver, White, Champange are my preferred colors. I'll consider others of course but I really don't want black. I love the look of black sedans but have lost my passion to keep them as clean as I used to.

Hi, I regret not being able to provide more detail, but here's what I recall.

Fall '01 a gentleman in CT auctioned a champagne ext./burgundy int. 300e 5-speed on eBay. He didn't get his price so the car wasn't sold. It had about 150-160k miles, and he hoped to get $6k.

The car looked nice, and there was a rich history available. Part of the history included a rather odd tale about an accident in which a valet backed the car into a pipe, damaging the roof at the rear. This resulted in the entire roof being replaced, and the body shop forgot to replace the VIN plate visible beneath the windshield.

While there was some reassurance that the repair went well, there may have been some doubts among buyers whether the structural integrity of the roof was 100%. That, along with the missing VIN plate potentially raising eyebrows with the state DOT upon titleing and registration may have deterred buyers.

Keep your eyes open, these cars do turn up on the internet with some regularity.

Best of luck,

Tom

Did you not see Sabrina's car on this site?

There was another seller here too, but I haven't heard from him lately.

Thanks cloud nine and vrsmith

I honestly am not in the market today as cash is tight.."wedding night tight" to quote racer Willy T. Ribbs. I put the "wanted" ad there as I had heard from one of the members that it took him a year to find one. I should be ready by then.

Vr, yes I did see Sabrina's car. Funny she did not see my "wanted". Hers sounds OK but again if I am not really ready today, I sure as hell am not ready to go all the way accross the country to get one. I hope to find one in Miami or something. I am in Clearwater (Tampa Bay) FL.

Thanks again

Don

You may want to check this one out...it's a little closer to you. They must be reasonably firm on price because I've seen it for sale many times over the last year or so.

Happy hunting

I think you owe it to yourself to take a look at it and possibly drive it. If it really is as nice as they say, at least you'll have a benchmark to compare other cars to.

Besides, it would be fun!
