Wink 85 300CD for sale $4995

Decided to sell my 1985 300CD. About 5 years ago I went through the interior. refurbished instrument cluster, reupholstered seats, refinished wood. All common water leakage areas fixed or refurbished. Front end mostly replaced. Starts and runs well, tires good. Can be a daily driver. A/C good, converted to 134, I use Evirosafe for max performance, works well. Paint is fair, it was repainted before I bought it, some fading, surface rust spots. Could use a new paint job but looks fine from a distance. I would like to find a good home for this car, someone who wants to finish restoration. 203K does not burn excessive oil. Asking $4995. Fairly firm on price as I have been told it would be worth $6000 to $7000 if the paint was good. Feel free to ask specific questions. I tried to download some pix but with my DSL it will take forever. If you are interested send me an email and I will download attachments to the reply or if anyone is smarter than I am tell me how to attach pix without taking hours.

problem is this DSL line out here in the hills is too slow to upload. Hopefully, I will get one of the relatives who lives closer to civilization to upload some pix.

WOW no offense, but that interior is going to be one big negative on the price...

I have customized my interior, cuz I have no plans to ever sell the car....but people like original interiors...GLWS

In general, I would agree with cooljjay. It's easier to sell a car as close to stock as possible...however, the interior does look really neat! Those freshly painted needles are also a plus.

I'm sure the purists will hate it. But they can buy a rat eaten OE with the seats all rotted for 3500 with the front end shot or go to CA and buy a really nice one with OE seats for 10,000 to 15,000. Seems like with the front end new, new vacuum pots and rubber in the HVAC and no rust holes or water leaks someone would buy it. If not I'll keep it, I'm not desperate.

$4995 is too much for a car with mediocre paint.

A quality paint job if one was to be serious about the paint job would cost around $5K using the best paint, quality prep, and labor time and reputable shop. Not Maaco.

Food for thought.

Not thinking too seriously about a 5K paint job on a 5K car. Maybe I'll do all the prep work and have Maaco paint it for $400. Or, better yet, to be really insulting to purists maybe I'll cut the back down and make it into a pop-up camper and keep it. I've got some clear cypress in my shop. If I make the camper top out of that, take the MB hood ornament off and replace it with a plastic alligator should be about right. Then I can take it to a MB gathering and watch some of you guys run for your barf bags. Hilarious!
