For Sale - 1992 300D 2.5 Turbo - $400 (Running parts car) - SOLD
The car has been sold pending buyer pickup.
1992 300D 2.5 Turbo Black; 249,000 miles WA tabs through 10/2014 Starts and runs, but transmission (4-speed automatic) only shifts into 1st and 2nd gear. Viably driveable around town, but not on the highway. I have no idea what's wrong with the car and have had neither time nor money to investigate. Minor body damage from a collision with a snow bank a few years ago. Sagging headliner, interior approximately 7/10. Motor has one bad glow plug, but is otherwise strong. Comes with the following spare parts: Four winter tires, on rims Five Bosch glow plugs Transmission filter/gasket Intake header gasket Would make a good parts car, engine donor, or transmission recipient. I'm asking $400, reasonable offers entertained. Currently parked in Port Orchard, WA. Pictures will be posted later today.

Thats a great deal, hard to justify a $1,000 tow bill for $400 car, but I'm sure someone will snap this up within a few hours.

That was the plan, but a job offer (including a signing bonus to start early) makes liquidating the car quickly (hence the fire sale price) the thing to do in this case. I could probably part it out for $1000, but I don't have the time.

Have you checked to see if the kick-down switch under the accelerator pedal is stuck? It would keep you out of the upper gears absent some very high revving. Try to simply unplug it and give it a spin - an easy costless test that might actually work.

I have tried it; it didn't work.
Someone put a deposit on the car today, so it's off the market.
