Well, actually it would be for ME....buy it in TX, drive it to RI...stopping by Rocketchip on the way home to get it chipped! As to colors and options, I'm somewhat flexible (though I especially like the tektite grey and the red). Ideally 125-150k miles with good maintenance history. I'm getting a pretty good sense of the market so looking not just for a fair deal but a great deal....something that would make me the envy of the forum.

If I find one I'll sell the 99 and let my son drive the 98.

I passed on a 2005 E320 CDI with a super clean Carfax history, and 26K miles last week. Asking was $15,988.00. I did not drive the 350 miles RT to see it, so I wasn't able to verify it's true condition.

Thanks for the heads-up Joe, I appreciate that.

Just in case anyone else is looking, the carfax indicates an accident involving a right rear and/or right side impact.

Joe, please DO keep us posted with any other "finds" that you don't buy for yourself - thanks!

You're welcome!

The MB dealer had the Auto Check - I did not check it.
Also, it's a Florida car. I am reading about fellow members here that are dissatisfied with their various used MBs bought from Florida - so I probably would not buy one from that super humidity fraught State. TylerH860, TheDon, and MTU Power.
I don't know what or if there's a common link, but, IIRC, those guys have reported some dissatisfaction here on forum.

I am particularly impressed with the 05 & 06 CDIs, so, I enjoy alerting others to the low-mile cream puffs out there. I believe there to be greater value in paying more for a low-mile used car - but that's just me, and at least one other member here. I don't recall his handle here, but he's a friend of moderator VSTech, in North Carolina.

They're great cars and beautiful riding as well! I'd like to add one to my stable eventually. I only drove one once and what an experience! I wished they sold an S-Class with a diesel with airmatic and I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I'm attracted to CDIs, but I thought that the 2000 to 2010 years were the absolute worst for MB reliability?

the fuel cost is offset to some degree by the MPG. i have two of them with high milage that i paid little money for.....i enjoy driving diesels (esp the 606 and 648) because of all the available torque....just a lot of fun to drive for me

The m113 is more fun at half the price.
