Value of 124 coupe in CA?
I have a friend that wants to sell his W124 coupe, and has no idea of it's value. I for one have not seen too many of these, so I imagine they are pretty rare. His plan was to put the engine and trans from his wrecked 300D (W124), but the project has gotten in the way, and procrastination has taken over. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rich

Probably $1500-2K.
There's a lot of work involved swapping the CE to diesel, but it's been done. The easiest part is re-routing the fuel lines IMO for diesel setup. |
What year is the car? M103 or M104?

They're all 6 cylinder in the US. 103 and 104 are both 6cyl, 103 is SOHC, 104 is DOHC. If its 1990+ its DOHC, the coupes got the wacky KE-jet M104 like the 300SLs did before the sedans.

300CEs aren't incredibly valuable cars, but certainly more so than sedans. If its clean fix it up and save it. Until the EZL goes bad and it totals the car.

Essentially the ignition control module, its specific to 90-92 KEjet M104s in 300CE and 300SL. They are usually $500 on eBay or $2,200 from Mercedes. For a "normal" M103 they are like a $50 item.

Attached are the photos. The car has almost 300,000 miles on it. The interior is pretty nice, it has seat covers to protect the seats. However, the driver side bottom has some wear. Not a big deal though, I would just find a passenger side seat bottom skin and replace it. I am rethinking about buying the car and doing the OM602 transplant (I already own the donor car)...Rich

I agree with jake12tech, looks like a 1500 dollar car, maybe 2000 to the right person but you'd have to be patient for that

Around here that car would sell for scrap price. Would cost more than its worth to fix up. |

Yeah and I respect that, trust me, nothing is too difficult until you've owned a 6.9 haha

i have a '93 w124 wagon i'm contemplating a diesel swap for but i i just acquired a decent running but wrecked 95 e320 sedan. the thought of a straight swap as opposed to all the same work PLUS all the conversion work.......i dunno. a decent w124 wagon is worth under $2k but a 93 TD?? even a conversion i would think would be an 8k car |
