FS: 1998 E300 TurboDiesel OM606 NH

Up for sale is my 1998 E300 Turbo diesel. Silver on black, with 247K miles. It is a great car that is smooth and very comfortable, not the fastest but way faster then my fathers 300TD by a long shot. Good mileage at around 28-30 winter and 32-34 summer.

I am reluctantly selling the car, but I don't have time to put it into my almost perfect W123.

Asking 2000 OBO.

The good:
OM606 turbo, one of the best motors MB ever made and the reason I originally purchased the car.
Black leather interior is very nice with no rips or tears.
New AC compressor, drier, expansion valve as of 20k ago.
It was very very cold as of last summer. I have not tested since it is no longer registered.
Rebuilt aux. fans.
Runs great, and burns <1L per 10k miles.
Transmission oil and filter changed with MB approved oil <20K ago.
Transmission is very smooth and shifts great.
Diff oil changed with Mobile one synthetic <20K ago.
Duo valve rebuilt and working.
Stack of receipts from the PO

The bad:
Rust...see pictures
I used to work at an auto body shop and it would not be too much work to fix, especially with some used fenders from a junkyard.

Tires are old and fairly worn
I only have one key, but already purchased one from MB in Manchester NH; so you get a brand new key with the car. You just have to drop in, they read the cars key code and program the key so that it does not make the current one unusable.
Miles 247K.

PM me for more info.

Seems like a good deal

Graminal95 06-05-2015 10:09 AM

I forgot to mention that I also replaced the front spring perches, springs and seats on both sides.

shertex 06-05-2015 10:53 AM

That does seem like a good deal. The rust is unfortunate, but perches are done. Someone is going to get a nice W210 ride for very little money.

Matej 07-11-2015 01:43 AM

In case you ever decide to part the car out, I would definitely be interested in the engine.

Graminal95 08-10-2015 09:23 AM

I was hoping I would have time to fix the rust and sell the car for more money, but at this point I'm not going to have time. That being said the price is now 1500 cash.

If you want it just for the engine, you can drive the car home pull the engine when you have the time and call up the local junk yard and they will come take the rest of the car away for free.

HarvAMG 08-10-2015 05:17 PM

Hell of a deal.

Graminal95 09-08-2015 08:14 PM

Bump

piccolovic 09-25-2015 08:45 PM

Is it still available?

Graminal95 09-25-2015 08:45 PM

It is

Do you have a NH title for it?

Graminal95 09-28-2015 09:47 AM

Yep, I have the title and the PO's repair/receipts going back to the mid 2000s.

Bump and Price Drop! Now 1300 cash.

Graminal95 11-03-2015 08:27 PM

I've been driving the car around the last few weeks without issue. Comes with a set of snow tires mounted on rims and ready for the winter.

This car would be mine, if it was anywhere near me. (Dallas, Texas)

shertex 11-04-2015 11:16 AM

Where in NH are you located?

Graminal95 11-04-2015 11:38 AM

I'm located in Rochester NH

shertex 11-04-2015 02:04 PM

It's really a shame that no one has snagged this. Yes, the rust is unsightly. But to get one of these that runs and drives with reasonably up to date maintenance for $1300?? Hard to go wrong for that money.

shertex 11-04-2015 02:21 PM

Graminal95, how much would you guess a reasonably-priced auto body shop would charge to fix all the rust? You mentioned you used to work at one so I thought you might have an idea.

Graminal95 11-04-2015 02:58 PM

I would guess 1k. If you get fenders from a jy in the same color a bit less.

About a 6-7 hour drive. If I muster up the money before it sells, I'm pretty interested.

3 questions

current registation & inspection status?

engine smoke less after driving it a bit?

2nd key still @ dealer?

Graminal95 11-05-2015 05:14 PM

I just registered it again so my friends have a car while visiting. I have not gotten it inspected and I think it would pass but has developed a small exhaust leak. The engine barely smokes even on very cold winter morning. I haven't talked to the dealer so have no idea if they have the key still.

Is the car still around, is it driveable lasting a long haul? please mail your address. Reply windjammer51@hotmail.com

Bump! Update the battery has headed south, so will need a new one. On a plus note the tank is filled to the brim with fresh diesel.

chrismak 01-29-2017 09:31 PM

Did you ever sell this car.
I need a front end
