1980 240D "Frau Bluecar" and 1982 300D "Gunther" turbo for sale. $2000 OBO two-fer package.
So much to say.......
I purchased the Frau in 2011 from JimmyL through TylerH860, you can see part of her history as "China" here: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/194431-china-engine-replacement-1980-240d.html. Engine has >300k miles, body has 166k miles.
I have replaced both upper control arms, all 4 tires, brake master cylinder, brake hoses, all 4 brake calipers and pads. Quite frankly the most reliable car I've ever owned.

I purchased Gunther in September 2013. 184k miles
Front bumper damage from accident. I have driven it for a year with damage. I recently pulled a bumper from a yard to replace it, but the drivers side mount on the car is damaged so I can't put the bumper on.
I have replaced both rear axles with remanned rear axles by CVJ; flex discs; brake hoses; drag link; steering shock; drive line bearing, drive line support, idler arm. PO replaced the steering box.
I have replaced the crankshaft pulley. About 4 months ago 4 of the 6 bolts holding it to the vibration damper sheared off. I pulled the coolant radiator, AC radiator, fan assembly and removed the sheared off bolts from the harmonic balancer(VERY carefully-I don't think I damaged the seal, but...) The old crankshaft pulley was damaged (bolt holes had become oval rather than round), but rest of the pieces were unaffected. I gave the engine a really good pressure washing while I had all of the front of the block exposed. Gunther has always had a bit of an oil leak, but pressure washing the block must have removed whatever accumulated gunk that was slowing it down and it has turned into a much faster leak, and I have been able to locate the source: the front crankshaft seal. This will mean removing everything I just took off and put back on PLUS the harmonic balancer. I just don't have it in me.

My plan was to buy a decent, used Asian vehicle that I could use as a dd and take my time to transplant the engine, transmission, drive shaft, rear differential and axles from Gunther to the Frau and end up with the best of both worlds: turbo charged fury in a simple car with manual windows and hub caps. However I have gone over to the dark side: since buying a new (to me) Toyota Camry, I don't see myself going back to such a primitive vehicle. So these two cars are for sale. Two cars for 1 low price. Drive them both or combine them. I'm also including a service manual for the 617.95 engine (Gunther). I'm selling them as a package because I'd like them both gone. Both cars run well and have both been recent daily drivers. The Frau has a moderate thirst for oil, Gunther seems content to just dribble it all over the ground.
I'll eventually list them on CL if I have to, but I would like to see someone from the forum have them, so that they will later write about their escapades and I can remain "in touch" with them. I am also willing to trade them for tortoises: my Burmese mountain black appears to be reaching maturity and seems to be a male, so he needs a girlfriend; I am also interested in Burmese mtn browns, Forstein's, Elongateds, and Marginateds.
