1987 300 SDL $1500

1987 300 SDL 383k miles Blue (Dunkelblau) exterior with Blue/Grey cloth interior. Apologies for not having any photos, I will get some current ones up as soon as I can but wanted to go ahead and get it listed on here.

Long time watchers may recognize this car as it’s been around a while and I am the 3rd forum member to have owned it. I picked it up from TheDon back in 2010 and before him Hatterasguy owned it.

Old Blue served me well as a daily driver for several years but has been sitting collecting dust for a while now and it’s time I moved it along. I commuted in it 60 miles a day and took it on many a road trip to Orlando and several trips back home to West Virginia. It just gobbled up the highway and it always rolled like a boss up and down the mountains.

Time and lack of attention on my part has taken its toll in some areas but it still can be a solid car for someone willing to put in a little effort. So of course the old trooper has some issues and I will list all that I am aware of and add any that I come across as I give it a once over.

The Not So Good
Paint is in pretty rough condition with the clear coat peeling badly.
There’s a hole in the usual spot on the drivers side seat bolster and a tear on the drivers seat bottom.
Sunroof doesn’t work
Antenna mast not working (motor runs)
No air from center vents (Vac pod issue)
Transmission has a bit of a leak and slips a little
Parking brake not working (passenger side drum assembly kaboomed one day and I just removed the shrapnel)
Cruise Control not working

The Better
AC works
Heat works

My poor old car, I kind of figured this would happen to it.

Took me forever to get some photos posted and these aren't the best quality but here you go. You'll notice the spot under the car in the first photo, that's the leaking tranny. Need to move this car so am negotiable on price.

If it wasn't for the tranny leak I would be seriously considering this. I've been looking for one of these in the under 6k range without much luck

Buy the car and the reman 722.3 in this link for $650 -

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/mercedes-used-parts-sale-wanted/348488-722-3-trans-parts-more.html

Highest mile 603.961 I have ever seen was 441k. So it still has decent useful life.

Velour is cool! Needs tint and a pressure wash to knock off most of the dead clear. Rest of interior looks good.

$75 or so and the cruise works - Cruise Control Amplifier Diagnostics & Amplifier Repair

Center vent is easy to do. Drop driver knee bolster and jam your hand in the door to disconnect the center arm to the flap, pull the pod out once the radio/HVAC is out. $6 for a new diaphragm from Performance Analysis and off you go.

Set of ebrake shoes are $30.

It also has ECE headlights.

Just my 2¢

I thought you said it was blue

A straight forward paint job would make a huge difference. I bet there is a lot of life left in the drive train.

The Georgia sun did that to it after it was no longer allowed garage privileges.

Just for education purposes..

Did someone paint the grille black and now it's chipping away to it's faded grey?
