1979 MB 300TD diesel wagon

I am reluctantly selling my 1979 MB diesel non-turbo wagon. The car has about 177,000 miles, with far fewer on a Metric Motors (California) rebuilt engine. British racing green with palomino interior. It runs very well, and has limited signs of rust. Floors are solid. I have owned it for 16 years, and maintained it very well. AC converted to 134 gas some years ago; blows cold. Most things work, including the self-leveling rear suspension. Car runs, shifts, and stops very well. Has not used a drop of oil in my ownership. For a complete write-up and photos, email me:

Bump. This is a really good car. I fear my description has not done it justice. Email me for a more complete write-up and pics. Thanks.

I am finding it difficult to post the pics. I could easily send a number via email. Just email me at j.bauers@comcast.net and I will reply with pics and a detailed write-up of the car's mechanical history with me for the past 16 years.

Thanks for your patience. I guess someone who owns a 37 year old car might be given some slack for his Luddite tendencies.

Joe

Took the wagon out for its weekly spin today--52 miles. It hums beautifully, drives straight, stops well, all in all, a pleasant car. Even the climate control works without issues. Email me for a photo array and a detailed summary of the car.

Did it sell through Hemmings? Curious if that's a god place to advertise these old MBs or not.

Well well well.. Look who bought it. Didn't even bother to take new photos.

This is not a knock on Joe B. at all, but....

From what Joe wrote me, I'd say MM is not being completely honest about the car having original paint. The car has had rust repair work performed (which required repainting) and has noticeable rust areas that were yet to be repaired.

Hardly what I would expect to see in person after being told the car was original paint.... Perhaps, in a Clintonian parse, if ANY original paint remained, then it indeed has "original" paint somewhere....

I gave this car some serious thought after Linda was involved in the accident that totaled our 85 300TD in February. In the end, there were several factors that lead me to not replace the car at all, but boy, this was one pretty car. Loved the color and the wheelcovers.
