FS: 1981 230ce - WA

For sale is a 1981 230ce. This was recently purchased as a parts donor, but I would like to give an enthusiast a shot at restoring it, before I dismantle it.

As most of you know (and I recently learned), this car was never available in available in the US market. It has a legal Washington registration and Washington state title. It has manual windows, cloth/vinyl interior, no sunroof, and 86k+ on the odometer. Overall in fair shape.

It currently runs, but has lost a cylinder. I do not know if it is a head problem, or a cylinder/piston problem. I am not interested in rebuilding the engine.

It can be started, and pulled onto a trailer.

$2,500 takes it.

Thanks.

Thumbs up

Looks to be a good place to begin .

I see some rust through so under carriage & trunk floor photos would be nice.

Update

Replaced engine with newer Edition m102. New alternator, water pump, belts. Runs and drives. Small exhaust leak from gasket.

Tires in great shape. Look new.

Paint needs restoration. Interior is overall good, carpet is excellent. Seat upholstery and rear deck need replacement.

Email with questions. Thanks.

Thumbs up A Nice 230CE

? Is that silver or petrol blue paint ? (my monitor is wonky) .

It's a nice little graymarket car, you've not yet said what you want for it......

It’s a silver/blue. Not sure of the name. I normally dislike blue, but this is a very fitting color for the car. If I were to paint it, I would stick with this color.

$4,000 or best offer.

I checked is against the color chart HERE

looks like its Silver Blue Metallic "silberblau". Diamond Blue Metallic (or diamantblau) was only available in '84-'85.

If you do end up parting it out, I'll take the head if it's still in decent shape.

Cool car! Is there a write-up on the engine swap? Equipped with a/c?

Thanks! No write-up. It's all very self-explanatory when you get into it. I used all of the 230ce intake parts, oil filter housing, and linkage. Installed them on the 190e motor, and it went together without issue. Took a couple of days. The newer water pumps are different than the ones used on the 230ce, so I had to order a 190e fan from URO PARTS.
