2005 CDI on craigslist

no affiliation but a potential clue as to why w210's aren't bringing much these days...

mint condition..

I always find humor in the terminology "mint condition", especially on a car with 200k!

CDI

I have yet to see a mid 2000s CDI with less than 200k on Craigslist. There’s usually a couple for sale at any given time in Phoenix, but I mean literally nothing sub-200k.

I figure that craiglist cars in general are lower end ( like 3 + owners ) so low mile stuff isn't going to show up especially for a high value car.

I also see "cream puff" quite often. WTF is that on a 200K vehicle?

Terms like that are up there with a term I can't stand, " all the bells and whistles "

Another one that makes the seller sound less than intelligent is " need gone " then they have an inflated price listed as firm.

I must admit, it does seem to be getting difficult to find decent condition cars on Craigslist (although it can still be done).

Where/what is the "go to" site these days for the higher quality cars at good prices? I find dealing with e-bay frustrating as hell, and the cars there are in general too pricey.

There used to be a site where you could go that seached all over the net for your chosen car but the sites I'm trying now are not very good and only show cars that dealers are selling. Anybody know a better way?

Honestly, enthusiast forums. Those are going to be the most love cars at the best prices. Want a Porsche? Go to Rennlist. Want a Ferrari? F-Chat. Any other exotic? 6-speed online.

Thanks.

I'll have to keep watching here for a 98-99 W210 diesel.

I'm loving my CDI, but I still need a W210 turbo diesel for all of the local driving I'm doing. I don't want to beat up my CDI doing that.

I just had another thought on the difficulty of finding cars. If one is looking for a specific era of car, production numbers matter as does state of the economy.

There will likely be a drought for the 08 - 12 model years ( not many sold ) and probably pretty worn out stuff in the 04 to 08 years as well ( cars kept longer ) .

And in 05-06, when people could afford the gas, they were probably less inclined to buy a diesel, further suppressing the sales of our 05-06 CDIs.
