1971 W108.018 280 SE base model for sale

For Sale:
• 1971 280 SE White with blue MB-Tex interior and 4 speed manual shift on the floor.
• W108.018 base model with M130.980 mechanically fuel injected 2.8 liter 6 cylinder engine.
• Equipped with factory installed AC, power steering, and Becker Europa II stereo radio with 4 speakers.
• Indicated 33,000 on odometer, best indication it rolled once.
• Original owner ordered car while stationed in Europe

Deficiency observations:
• Surface rust spots but the major components are sound. See photos.
• Door rubber and window channel needs replacing
• Left tail light doesn’t illuminate for running with lights on
• License plate lights need seals and lenses
• Low oil pressure 15 psi at idle when hot. Main bearings are suspected because oil pump is sound. When driven oil pressure rises and is high enough so that the car can be driven lightly without further damage to engine. Does not burn oil.
• Becker sound refurbished radio but it still sounds awful. Suspect that amp isn’t right
• Fuel injectors need to be pulled and sent off for servicing.
• Engine misses a little when pulling load at RPMs less that 2,500
• Warm starts are difficult but runs well once started
• Turn signal stalk doesn’t stick in position for either left or right signal.
• Drivers side front footwell lamp needs to be replaced. Parts included

Work done before my ownership:
• York AC replaced with rotary compressor with R134 refrigerant.
• Alternator replaced with unit that contains voltage regulator
• Petronix ignition installed as factory system must have died
• Engine head must have been off and valve job suspected (Compression is strong and even across all six)
• New carpets
• Dash wood was refinished

Work done while under my ownership:
• Radiator cored
• Water pump and all coolant hoses replaced
• Bud’s Benz cool kit installed which mounts coolant pipe from back of head with port for heat sensor and routes returning coolant back to front of engine. Helps keep overall engine temperature down and eliminates a hot spot at back of engine.
• New fan belts installed
• All fuel system hoses replaced to make system Ethanol tolerant
• Valves adjusted and new valve cover gasket installed
• Replaced one injector that stuck open
• Installed new injection pump thermostat
• Replaced lower oil pan gasket
• Rear differential clam boot installed
• Kingpins refurbished
• Refurbished front calipers installed with new pads
• New brake hoses installed
• New engine and transmission mounts installed
• New stainless exhaust system from TimeValve installed
• New springs and spring mounts installed
• Rebuilt hydronuematic compensator installed at rear differential
• New Michelin tires
• New rubber for rear differential support and control arms
• All new shift linkages
• Installed rebuilt power steering box and pump
• Replaced front seal
• Installed new positive battery cable
• Retracable seat belts installed
• Seat adjustment runners cleaned and lubricated

I had intended to own this car for at least 20 years so the additional money needed to refurbish the body was put off till all mechanical issues had been corrected. But I found another 280 SE just like this one that I liked better.
I am asking $9,000 but will entertain serious offers.
Here is a link to some photos of the car.

that is really hard to read. try some spacing to break up that huge block of text.
also, pictures and price are not only helpful when selling cars on this forum, they are required.
you should also put your location in there somewhere

In regards to readability, I’d suggest pros/ cons bullet point format.

After 5 mile run at 65 mph and 2 miles at 35 mph to garage, hot idle is 15.

on a six cylinder that is relatively low .
How old and what kind of oil do you have in the motor-
BTW You don't see too many of those tachometers on a 280se 4door.
Good Luck with the sale.

Oil is less than 500 miles on it. Its 15w40 regular.
The tachometer was put in by me, and I will be keeping it to put in my newly acquired W108.
