1967 Mercedes 250 S sedan 4 spd manual 66k orig. 1 owner

This car was purchased in Germany by the parents of a good friend of ours who has asked me to help sell it.
I will be adding some photos and documents including the original 'window sticker'
Car is like a time capsule-dash, seats, door panels, wood trim all in near perfect condition.
6 cyl with a 4 speed manual trans
Paint has a nice layer of dust but is original and very good.
Engine turns but we have not tried to start it as it is unknown the condition of the fuel-it was started and moved frequently, although not driven daily in 20 years.
Plan is to move it here and do some work to get it running.
A true original condition car.
Please contact me through the forum for more pics or info.
She thinks it is worth $12k but who knows.
Thanks for looking

value..

Obviously something is worth what someone is willing to pay right...so a number is a good starting place. The market will determine what it will go for.

It certainly looks like a very nice car. Do you have any belly pan pics or suspension part pics? I am thinking its a 8k to 10k if it runs decent, but again just my opinion from market recent sales.

Gotta be tough to part with something you have owned over 50 years no matter what.

Lovely car. Does it have the rear air compensator suspension or a regular spring? Looks like the rear is sitting low to me.

Inasmuch as New Jersey is a user of road salt, if the car was truly a "summer only" car, then it does have a chance of being nearly free of structural rust.

Well this will be an interesting car to see more of. Glad you're bringing it to the forum.

You can speculate about the suspension, rust, etc, but I thought the logical first question was given by the 6th sentence in the summary where it says....Engine turns but.......Are these engines fairly robust after sitting? How much is a new engine?

This car was started and maintained more than I thought originally so I think it will start after I change the oil and assess the condition of the fuel.
It’s going to be here this weekend so I can get a better idea of what it needs

I would not start the car until rubber fuel hoses are replaced, fuel tank drained , cylinders oiled, cranked with plugs out / ignition disabled to get oil pressure , throttle returns to idle. Have a non powder fire extinguisher ready and a powder one if the first one can't knock things down. I would not be to concerned with changing the oil as long as it is not milky.

A lot of damage can be done to an engine that has been sitting if it is just started up without preparation.

From the looks of it, I doubt it was ever driven in salt.

I agree but I don’t think it sat derelict for years on end. I’m pretty sure it was run a few times a year but not driving around. I will update the thread this weekend

I would pull the plugs and put some marvel oil down in there, then rotate with the starter without plugs. That gets oil pressure up and lubes the rings etc.
