1997 E 300D for sale

Has 260,000 miles about. Shifts and drives great still though. Needs tires and a lot of cosmetic work . The good is this car has been in family for maybe 8 years now and mechanically maintained. No rust. It's had all the fuel lines and glow plugs, crank case vent tubes (old and greasy again now) , tranny service. Has a new headliner and window tint. The headliner was not completely done correctly on the sunroof slider.

Me and my son got this mechanically sound for him when he was turning 16 as his first car. We put brand new ac system about 18 mos ago - compressor , expansion valve, drier -- so its nice and cold. Runs and drives and shifts perfect. He drove it for over a year and it never let him down.

He bumped into a few things with the bumpers like a gas station post and a telephone pole. Does'nt take much to destroy those plastic bumpbers. A few other things it needs are tires (bad) , some interior parts like rear view mirror , console mirror adjustment switch, kick panel under driver, rear right window regulator, hood ornament ...

Would be a good fixer upper or a good donor car if you have something you want the 606 NA engine and tranny in.

I may just fix it up if anyone has some parts too but i don't need the car.

Car is in Nashville, TN area. Asking $900 OBO as is. That's basically the cost of the AC parts minus labor. I think total AC reciepts were about 750 after the freon on belt and this and that. I think i got all the parts from Pelican. I'll check.

It can make a short drive on the tires. I'd recommend a trailer though or bring a couple spare tires with you if you want to drive it a long way. I air them up and they stay aired up a day or two of driving.

If you contact me i can shore more detailed pics of the trouble spots.

Gosh not a bad price. I just moved from Chattanooga area towards Atlanta but still not to far. I would buy it and drive to local tire store and get new tires. Would you think it would be good to go then?

The 97 diesel has the 5 spd automatic correct? Neat car

Still have it. Of it had good tires it would drive far I think. It starts right up cold. Shifts good. Last time I started it to move it I noticed one injector line leaks and It feels like a motor mount may have collapsed at idle. We can throw it on the lift and check it out.

It could be the injector nipple leaking in which case u need a new injector body. I put viton hoses on not too long ago so I don’t know why it would be leaking. Then again never really seen a nipple leak either.

Shoot me a pm or email is better through the contact page. Needs a good home. Lots of good parts.
