1953 170 SD W136 Project for sale

I'm throwing in the towel on this old diesel Benz. Feel free to make a offer. It has a clear title, in my name. It's located in Virginia 22644.

Had to start the price somewhere, I'm open to odd, really old, and tiny car trades. King Midget comes to mind...
Here is when I got it driving briefly before taking it apart... https://youtu.be/ZZSW2u4hpNs

Here is the CL ad. https://winchester.craigslist.org/cto/d/winchester-1953-mercedes-170-sd-w136/7371863938.html

I do love the style of it. My plan was to get it driving just in time for a 120 mile trip to Carlisle, PA back in May. For the import car show. Alas when I realized both engines need help, and everything else.

This brings me to wanting to find it a new home. I'm open to just about anything weird, odd, or old trading wise.

I've sent of few PM's through here. I don't know if they have gotten through.

So if there's any interest, call the number at the bottom of my CL ad- linked above.

I've had a few interesting calls on it. Even a offer to trade for a ultralight-that needs work.

Thanks for the link, yeah that would have sparked my interest. I was hoping my Benz had a little more value than what they were asking, either way a dkw like that is cool.

Not to mention I just bought 5 gallons of 2 stroke oil for my Trabant....

I dropped the price a bit. Still haven't had much interest in it. Might be a ebay thing soon.

This is in way better shape than my 170S. If this were closer, I'd be all over it. My 170 would turn into a parts bin for this.

Theres always Uship!

I keep it covered most of the time. When I see it, everything else stops- and the wheels start turning on how I can cobble it all together to make it half a$$tly drive...

I'm sending some messages about pistons right now. Already have a new set of rod, and crank bearings

A 48 Crosley is right beside it. This is all there, and runs. A cool car in it's own right, but nothing like a crippled diesel Benz! Just can't compare to the yard covering plume this thing puts out. "It's breath taking"...

Biggest issue I have is lacking engine, trans, and the entire rear axle assembly (that latter which was there, but was sold AFTER I had already bought the car).

I completely understand. I do know of a guy in PA, who has many of these in pieces. You would need to be prepared to drain your bank account though..

I can confidently say if you bought my170, it would still all be there when you come to get it!

Who knows, maybe I'll put one of the engines together, and run it around town some. Otta be painted something though. I'm thinking two tone Zebra stripes....

Yeah, the whole thing irked me a bit; I think the seller's daughter had something to do with it, as she was prone to selling random things around the shop to keep the lights on for the business...

Speaking of draining accounts, I was informed that the rear assembly sold for a paltry $150, and the person who bought it offered it back to me for ten times the amount...

My biggest issue is that I currently don't have a place to store it all. I'm in the process of looking for a house with a shop on it so I can actually get parts cars and get some work done. Hard to do where I currently am with the HOA always patrolling. I'd have hoped to have a running, driving car by now, but almost 10 years later is just languishes.

Also, a little OT, but I'd like to see a photo of that Trabant of yours!
