.
They are about the same as an SDL and faster than a 617 powered car, but not fast for sure.

I like the chassis and with the 606 or 648 I think it would be good enough

I think the 126 could use two way shaft adjustment.

Yes, for $6k you can get a nice maintained CDI, but maintenance is not cheap. One injector is $500. At over 200k miles, expect things to go, like IP, turbo, etc. You can be lucky - you can be unlucky, it's a lottery. You pay for the comfort and power, yet in the long run, E320 gas is cheaper and faster. Plenty about it on youtube and forums. I love the CDI but staying with 124 because of the cost and no place to really work on it.

Yeah, CDI is not for me. I drove one once and it was nice, but I already know I would hate it once i had one and stuff started breaking. I have a Boxster that I will probably get rid of soon for the exact same reason, it seemed fun until the reality of $450 seat switches, etc.

Good find. Decent price - no rust in Los Angeles, CA is a big plus!+

About what I'd expect to find; a 25 yr. old car with 250,000 +/- miles on it, needing more $$$ sunk into it to bring it up to totally sharp standards of working order mechanically and appearance wise.
A project car for sure. Worth a look definitely!

Thanks, I emailed about it. Sounds like the cooling system may be sketchy and there is a really steep grade on the way home and it's hot here right now, but worth a try at least.

At the age of this model pushing 30 years, it might be a good idea to obtain like models used for parts. At 16 years +/- it's an attractive alternative to keeping one car roadworthy and dependable. All, at very affordable prices.

No answer to the email so far, I haven't had much luck with getting a response to basic questions when I see them for sale, being that it sounds like that one may need some work I would certainly want to know more before driving 8 hours to look at it. Is it really that weird to ask for the VIN of a car for sale?

I have been trying to find one for over two years with no luck so I am not sure how easy getting several would be, although I'd have room to keep 4 of them if I really wanted if 3 of them were registered and movable under their own power.

I've been asked before for my VIN numbers by people I don't even know. If they're not interested in coming to look at the car in person, (my 15 year old Mercedes-Benz turbodiesel sedan)
they're simply not interested enough to fool with.. I've never sold a car or RV sight unseen.

Today though, I would not be surprised to receive payment in full for my 2017 Corvette sight unseen. Just let the transport company truck pick it up at my residence. Late model Corvettes are bringing huge dollars these days. Damn near what I paid for it 4 years ago. Folks are cashing in on their C7s everyday now. Used C8s are bringing $20K to $30 K above MSRP.

Wouldn't be surprised either to get top dollar for my 2006 E320 CDI, with 80K on it, owned for 7 or 8 years now. But not giving out the VIN on it without payment. To only get ripped-off...

I guess I don'r get it, what I usually ask people is "does it have the original engine, and has the wiring harness recall been done? If you aren't sure, could you send me the VIN so I could check at the dealer (or you can check for yourself and let me know too). I live too far away to come look at unless I am 99% sure I'm going to buy it, but I'm happy to come get it if it's what I am looking for".

The wiring harness is like $750 for a used one now, so I think its a reasonable question for a $4k car, but maybe not.

It seems like the ones where people say "the discounted price accounts for all repairs needed" are usually the most expensive too lol.

I did and people who don't share VIN are the ones who usually have something to hide. There is nothing special about VIN. Someone will run a carfax and what?

i was thinking the same thing but then i was researching getting a key made for another vehicle brand using the VIN (long story). there was a dealer that was able to provide the key from the VIN and wasn't verifying ownership, etc.
it's a long shot and i will often provide the VIN to folks who ask

Were the person actually interested, they'd be anxious to come SEE the car. Since otherwise, they're just a waste of time...
