1991 300D

Hey guys, I have a 1991 300d for sale. I haven't had it long, got it ~6mo ago from previous owner who had neglected pretty badly. I've been going through it and invested a lot of time and money trying to get her up to speed. While there's a bunch of little things, there's one big thing; a newly leaking head gasket. Here's the whole story:

1991 300d. ~392k miles. Owned for the first ~350k by the owner of an independent MB shop who took great care of it. He gave it to his young nephew who drove the dog crap out of it and (by all appearances) provided little ongoing care/maintenance.

Head gasket is an external leak just behind the injector pump. It's not pouring, but enough that car is not reliably driveable until this is resolved. I do not believe that there is any internal leakage of coolant into the combustion chamber.

Upon taking ownership of it, I've
-replaced the ignition tumbler
-went through the front suspension (struts, one swaybar link, and a bunch of bushings)
-tied up a bunch of small fluid leaks before finding the head gasket leakage
-drained/filled cooling system w G05
-replaced some failed relays to remedy a battery drain
-drained/filled auto trans fluid
-adjusted wheel bearings
-replaced oil psi sensor and water level sensor
-I've played with tuning; trans modulator valve, bowden cable, etc and she shifts firmly and decisively with no flare while having great power and no exhaust smoke under load (please note a prior post about power loss was resolved with a simple vacuum line that had come loose)

This car is 100% rust-free, 99% straight body, with most accessories like power windows, radio, and sunroof working properly.

Cosmetically:
-Clearcoat is peeling badly on all horizontal surfaces like hood, roof, trunk but underlying paint is in great shape.
-Interior is a 9/10...in shockingly good condition for the age/mileage. No cracks in dash, no tears in seats, good carpet, no odors, etc. Really a beautiful car on the inside.

In addition to the big issue of the leaking head gasket, it will need
-the intake cleaned (I just blocked the EGR, but prior to that it had been working leading to goop in the intake)
-glowplugs (car starts pretty well even when cool, but the GP light indicates at least 1 GP is out and the rough idle upon starting seems to confirm at least 1 cylinder is not getting glowplug function)
-the coolant sensor I installed worked for a bit but has ceased working again and will need attention
-central locking system not working

I'm asking $1k, but need it gone and am amenable to offers.

Pictures available.

Ac works!

Climate control on the car works flawlessly including nice and cold air conditioning.

During my short time of ownership, I have not had to top system off with refrigerant.

Thanks!
Brad
