1985 300SD - Los Angeles - $5000
Selling my daily driver as I'm leaving the country. Purchased in 2016 from local MB mechanic who purchased from his customer. Spent over $15k keep it in good running condition and reliable with all receipts. I've put on 30,000 miles since purchase.
Interior is a standout, no sun damage. My mechanic purchased it from the original owner, he's serviced the car since 1989 - the service book is stamped to 100,000miles, I have records from 130,000 to present. Original CA sunshine plates, original books, copy of original pink slip, car purchased by prominent entertainment lawyer at Downtown LA Motors. Rare color on the 1st Gen W126 DB199 Blauschwartz over burgundy leather Since I've owned the car I've had the following fixed/replaced: -new AC compressor -rebuilt steering box -new shocks, springs - all 4 wheels -4 new brake pads, rotors -new left and right motor mounts -oil changed every 6 months, valves adjusted -new ignition tumbler with original key fit -AC vacuum servos replaced -rear sway bar links -front lower control arms, bushings -steering idler arm -new MB battery i installed 2 OEM rear headrests in original burgundy color with OEM parts a few years ago. Have to check reciepts for other items there is more. Not perfect but nice daily driver quality which is getting harder to find. Vacuum system/power locks works great, AC works great. Check out pics in album link below. This is a nice straight, honest and original car. Not perfect but nice daily driver quality which is getting harder to find. A great car for someone that wants to bring it up to higher level. I wanted to paint the wheels and bumpers but never got around to that. Some small door dings on right side. Vibration in steering above 65 mph haven't had chance to get this looked at. I've had the car serviced and upkept as necessary to maintain reliable running daily driver. email or txt for more info: markfin@gmail.com 310-848-4041 https://photos.app.goo.gl/fskZwhM4gCVJL2Ut9 Last edited by markovr6; 12-07-2021 at 08:52 PM. |

In a parallel universe, one where I clicked this subform just a little bit sooner, I'm already driving this baby around.
$5k for those stats and for that color combo is a steal.... |

May I ask what needs fiddling with? Let me live vicariously thru you haha And I'm new to the San Diego area. Lemme know if you do any of the meet ups like in Rancho. And especially let me know if you go to sell it haha Last edited by Bootsie; 12-25-2021 at 09:18 PM. |

It has a hard shift from 1st to 2nd, and the front end vibrates above 65mph. The engine did not get up to temp - needed a new thermostat. Chasing down some vacuum related stuff before look it the transmission. The air filter / compressor inlet was loose, PCV lines were loose, put a lot of oil in the area, dissolved some vacuum rubber connectors. EGR valve does not seem to work. Started to go through all fluid and filter change - but is drives and I'm using as is. Nothing major, all pretty std stuff. The previous owner addressed some higher dollar stuff, which shows. I'm in Oceanside - I'm happy to show the car if you are interested. |
