'81 300SD "Blanche" must sell
Since the 300E seems to be a permanent part of life, I must sell the 300SD. Her name is Blanche and the car is truly a gem.
I purchased the car in October of last year from the second owner who purchased it in the mid 80's. The guy kept the car in a heated/cooled garage and it was detailed once a week...it was his baby. He sold it only because he bought a 400E. He had all the service records and I just couldn't help taking him a check. I have installed a new console after the stereo was stolen. At that time a new Sony head unit with a 10 disk changer was installed, as well as new Kenwood speakers in front and Polk Audio's in the rear. When the stereo was stolen, they also sold a bag that contained most of the records on the car. I can confirm with the former owner what was done to the car plus get a statement from my mechanic as to the condition. A list of recent updates: New tie rods on both sides New brakes in front New Sub Frame Supports Timing and Valve adjustment New Yokohama Axid tires New Rack bolt New vacuum module for center flap New motor mounts The car is gold in colour with EXCELLENT paint. There is NO oxidation and very few dings. It has chrome wheels and chrome trim on the wheel wells (it's Texas car). The wheels are in beautiful condition as well. The leather is near perfect with just a couple of surface cracks on the driver's seat. I plan to Leatherique the interior this weekend. The driver's seat spring is a little weak, but not uncomfortable. The wood is in great condition with only a couple of minor cracks. EVERYTHING on the car works and the A/C is cools almost TOO well (gets cold in there at night). I installed Euro lamps on it about 6 months ago. I'm asking $4200 but am willing to talk on the price. |

Can you post pictures?

I will post pictures hopefully tomorrow. The weather hasn't been cooperating here with getting it clean.

OK...finally. Had a chance to take these yesterday afternoon...
Let me know if you would like me to email more! |
Blanche is indeed an attractive lady. Maybe I need to take a road trip ! ;)

Yep, this car sure is an unusually clean, unbelieveably preserved 300SD.
These early model 300SD's are so sought after by members on this site, I can't believe that this car will last more than a week, especially considering the asking price. How can you go wrong for only $4,200? |
My wife won't part with the Jetta TDI, so
I'd need a pretty compelling reason to get rid of my Golf TDI. It's solid, a blast to drive, and has averaged 47 mpg. I do most of the maintenance myself on both cars. There is economy of scale at work here.
Obviously, an S-Class MB for $4K offers up some pretty compelling reasons. I could keep 3, though I have no room in my garage....one would have to sleep under cover outside. AGHHHHH!!  :D Quote:

I hate to have to sell her. Right now I also have an '84 Cadillac Eldorado. My driveway looks like part of the TV show "Dallas". I guess I should drive out to South Fork.
The insurance on 3 cars is getting a little excessive. I'm hoping that I soon figure out WHAT is wrong with the 300E. Still won't run right... I have a few more pics of Blanche and will try to post them this afternoon. |
sounds to me like....
you oughta dump Gertrude and keep Blanche ! :D
