FS: 1972 450SL - Best offer

1972 450SL- Cream with brown interior and brown top.
Recent professional re-spray and new top.

The manager of my band owns this car, and was hoping I would buy it, but I've got 300SDL on the brain. However, I did drive it and was surprised at how solid it is and how it takes off at a touch of the pedal!

The interior is intact, but original and shows wear consistent with it's age.

One thing to note: the car has US bumpers on it and not the euro's typically found on this year SL. There's no history on why this is- your guess would be as good as mine or my friend's.

He is looking for reasonable offers for the car, and is ready to sell.
If you are interested, I can do some further research and maybe find out more about the history of the car. Sorry that I don't have all the info at this time!

Overall, it is a very good looking and driving car, but not a collector or show car. Consider it if you're looking for a classy and solid convertible (instead of a mustang) for a very reasonable price.

For your time, here are three photos (first three on the page)

If interested, send me a message or post, and I'll get answers to your questions or put you in touch directly with the owner.

Well, the owner told me "best offers", but I know that doesn't tell you much!! Going out on limb, I would say probably somewhere in the $4.5 to $5.5k range. It recall he had an offer for $4200 at one time, which he said he'd like to see if he could get a little more.

It's a very nice looking car that needs some interior lovin'.

$4.5k to $5.5k is a very good price, IMHO.

1972 is probably the most sought after model year of the 72-80 450 SL's.

Just so you know, the bumpers on this car came that way. 1972 is the only year that came with the Euro bumpers.

What also makes this desirable is 1972's have the most hp of all the 450 SL's because they have no smog equipment, no catalytic converters, etc.

Also, not that it's bad or anything, but 1972 450 SL's came with hubcaps originally. The "bundt cake" sytle wheels that are on this car were offered several years later. It probably doesn't detract from the car's value as most people prefer the allow wheels anyway.

Kashbaugh-
Thanks for the interest.
I believe he still has the car. It's located in Central Mass.
Let me know if you'd like more info or would like to contact the owner.
