FS: Classic W116 1980 300SD Turbo. Ocala, Fl.

Hey Everyone!

My brother went to look at a 1980 MB 300SD (W116 Body Style) today because he was interested in them. Any way, the car is a Medium Blue color with Saddle MB Tex interior. The odometer was showing just over 117K but has been inoperable for a short time (everything else works in the instrument cluster including the tach, clock, oil, fuel and temp gages, and speedometer.) The seller is the 2nd owner and has owned it for a couple years (original owner lived in Sarasota, Fl. --always a Fl car)

What it Has:
Power Windows: All in working order except passenger front. All others seemed to have the typical trouble. Maybe needs greasing. Windows have tint on them.

Vacuum locks: I believed they worked properly.

Air Conditioning: Currently inop. also, may be vacuum lines

**This car did not have a Sunroof or Cruise Control.

It has a pretty cheap aftermarket radio (Sanyo brand, I think)- didn't seem to work.

power antenna: didn't notice if it worked or not.

Four matching Bridgestone (roadhandler?) tires with good tread life.

Things needing attention:
-dash had a few hairline cracks (have pics)
-woodgrain (on console and dash) had cracks (have pics)
-passenger front seat had a crack about 2-3 inches long (have pic)
-back of front seats had some white stuff on it (may be mildew?) (have pic) *also on the small hump on floor in rear
-rear seat seemed to be somewhat collapsed down/in and pushed to the front of the car. (have pic)
-paint was either dull on top surfaces (hood, trunk, roof) or it was something from being sat under a tree. Probably had a repaint once in it's life big color difference from door jamb and rest of car (have pic depicting this.)
-A/C wasn't working. Could be vacuum lines, but not sure.
-Horn wasn't working.
-May need a new ignition. Have to shut off manually from engine.
-bottom left portion of drivers door has some sort of scratch with rust forming (have pic)
-passenger headlight surround was in bad shape (have pic)
-the turbo didn't seem to kick in at all.
-wiper blades need to be replaced.
-hood star was stolen. needs new one
-needs a hood pad
-THERE MAY BE MORE THINGS NEEDING ATTENTION THAT I'M NOT AWARE OF. CALL OWNER (Larry)

He only has a few records from his ownership and none from the PO.

The Good:
-It had four very beautiful bundt cake rims (most likely replaced recently) have pics of two of them.
-No body rot from what I could tell. (i.e. around the wheel wells and jack holes)
-all the glass looked good as far as cracks go.
-All four tires had good life left in them.
-the headliner appeared to be intact and in great shape
-the sun visors were in nice shape for a 23 y/o car
-the body appeared to be in great shape with no major dings, dents, or scratches.

My brother is looking for a larger car to replace his 190DT and was considering one of these W116 body style SD's for their classic look. However, he is looking for one that's in pretty much perfect mechanical and cosmetical condition as he has neither time, money, or experience to mess around with getting a car into tip top shape. SO IN NO WAY AM I OR MY BROTHER INTERESTED IN THIS CAR. I just offered to pass this car along to the board members of MercedesShop for him.
