Unhappy 1981 240 D, CA, needs TCL

Bad news first
My daughters 240 D lost an oil line on the way to college. Still turns over but won't start. Possible damage to lower end.
Good news: Car ran great until this problem, 300,000 miles
Had new top end last year, new glow plugs
Less than 300 miles on new clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing.
A/C works great, body straight and clean. Interior fair to good.

Will consider all offers or trade for motorcycle. Can help deliver within reasonable distance. Can send Pic's.

Mtheofanid@aol.com

Car is located in Merced Ca.

Talking What is reasonable?

I would love to have the car but I am in NC. My brother is in Az, do you get down that way or is it out of your normal range?

I see sixto is interested and just around the corner from you so let me know if you two can't work something out.

NC,

Please help yourself to it. My heart says to grab any MB with working AC but my sensibility doesn't care for a stick.

Smile sixto

Never had a stick in a 240d but have heard enough to be very curious, besides any mb parts are good parts.

The trans is good, the clutch and related parts are new.
My daughter would still be cruising in it if it had not had the problem. Time did not and still doesn't permit me to fix it. If i were retire I think it would be a fun project.

Turns over...

When you say it turns over is it real sluggish or any unusual noises? Not starting may be a sign of toasted/broken rings?

I've still got my bike but Mommy hasn't let me ride it in the last three years so might be a good trade. It's a decent 1981 Yamaha Special 2 650. Spoke wheels and twim pipes make this bike a nice ride. besides being a twin you can actually kickstart it!

The car turns over without any unusual sounds, as a mater of fact it started and ran for about a minute with no unusual sounds, good oil pressure, and then died. The starter turns it over easily with no unusual sounds, it tries to start but won't catch. When it was running it would not go above an idle.
I took it that there is possible a fuel problem since it had sat idle in the back yard for the past three or four months.

Any ideas.
thank you
Mark T

As for the bike, looking for dirt bike, new or old ok, but this might be workable, have 17 year old son who might want. send pic's.

M. Theofanides,

Where in Ca. are you and what condition is the body and interior? If you're in Northern Ca., send me an email with your telephone number.

Thanks,
Ben
