I Finally Got One!!! A 500e!!!

Hi Everyone,
After a long hunt, I finally picked up a 500E in California. This car is amazing not to mention FAST! I LOVE IT! It has 160K on it and runs and looks like a champ. It has a rebuilt trans, E-code headlights, rebuilt heads, new rear shocks, rebuilt AC system and maybe even a new wiring harness (Installation looks funky). It also has a Bergworks first gear start system on it too!
Anyway, I just got it on Friday and now I'm ready to do some mods. I have already done,,,, yes already,,, a performance chip, which I have noticed a significant increase in power. I also purchased a set of 17X9 Carlsson rims, which will be installed soon. Other than that, I have a huge list of other mods I'm going to make immediately.

ASR defeat

Upgrade calipers

Cross drilled front/ (rear?) rotors

Front shocks

Headers

Complete exhaust system

Fog lamps on bumper ( old ones have holes)

I'm thinking of going with Denso Iridium plugs. Any comments?

Air box

These are the mods I want to start with. If anyone can make some suggestions on the parts above it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Adam

Why not add Begwerks NOS kit to the list? I am looking forward to the C126 version for my stable. Cheers, Andrew Seidel.

HomeRunPark,rammbs and el presidente,,,,
Thanks, Thanks and Thanks!!!!! I waited a long time for the right deal and my dreams finally came true.
5banger,
I am interested in doing a nitrous setup on the 500E but I don't understand the $2000 price tag Bergwerks puts on thier system. I called them to enquire about thier system and it doesn't seem to have any special features that warrants spending that kind of money. From what I can see it's just a 100hp gain wet system which you can buy for $800 max from any other nitrous kit manufacturer. If anyone has info to prove me wrong, please enlighten me. I'm very happy with the Bergwerks product so far and would be glad to spend the money if there is some major benefit to using thier kit.
Thanks,
Adam

Hi Adam, congrats on the new 500E!

With regards to the Bergwerks NOS kit, Carl has spent extensive time building safety into the system. It's not just a standard system that turns on when you tell it to, it actually turns on only at full throttle and turns off once off the throttle. It's foolproof basically so you can't screw up the engine. It's a nice design, I've seen it installed on a few cars and none have problems with it.

Permagrin for you Adam

Regarding Afshin's comments about the BW Nitrous Oxide kit - he's right, there is more to the kit than just a standard NOS one can buy at Summit Racing et al ... BW has designed some safety (engine survivability) features into the kit. As Af mentioned, Nitrous is ONLY injected when the following conditions have been met:

Throttle -> Wide Open
Fuel Pressure -> ~ 100 psi
Engine Speed -> 3000 RPM or higher

Once these conditions are met, ignition timing is retarded and nitrous is injected via a solenoid. If you want me information, contact VinceC, GerryVZ, both at 500Ecstasy ... both have the BW NOS kit installed.

I'd give this kit two thumbs up.
