My 300GE is too slow even though it is blessed with a 5sp manual transmission. While rummaging through old issues of Car and Driver I found a test of a 300CE with a turbo setup including an intercooler. The issue I believe was 11/88. This is the same M103 as in my G-Wagen. They claimed 10.9 psi of boost produced 350hp with no internal modifications. The car ran 0-60 in 5.0 sec. I don't need 350hp and I would question the cars longevity, but I think maybe 6psi or so would give me 230-250 hp. I know the right way is to go see Renntech for a 3.6 conversion but 15 grand seems like a lot. Does anybody know if this tuner (Lotec) still exists? Is there a relatively inexpensive way to get some power from the M103. Maybe a supercharger for around $5000.

I have seen turbo kits for the M103 that are pretty cool, but pricey. They run about 10G installed. Ouch. But alot of power.

For that much I would go with the base 3.6 conversion from Renntech. That would give 225hp up from 177 and they claim strong low end torque. Maybe I should just give up on a cheap fix for my expensive car. For 14k I can get the stage two and 255hp. This avoids the heat and durability concerns associated with turbos. I still think a vortech supercharger and a little fuel enrichment would be ideal. If anyone has seen a setup like this please let me know.

Benzmac, I found a turbo kit but its REALLY SPENDY ! $16500 . They claim 300hp from 8psi with a liquid aftercooler. The outfit is Eurotech in Las Vegas NV. I called looking for someone to do a supercharger. It would be a one-of deal and even more expensive OUCH. Brabus also does the 3.6 conversion but only offers a 1 yr warranty as opposed to Renntechs 3 yr . Cost is comparable, Renntech is in Florida and Brabus in Calif. so take your pick. Looks like I'll save a few more sheckels and go see Renntech for a new motor next spring. By the way all of these mods apply to M103 motors whether its a 190E 2.6 or a 300E. This concludes my quest for power.

I came across a company in the UK, making a blower for 103 motors,
I believe their name is RSC and the number is +44 181 800 3355 I think it was in the neighborhood of £1800, which is roughly US $2700 Kind Regards Russ |
Take it they don't have a website or email? BTW, any idea if they have forced induction kits for other motors? (M119, M104, etc)
Thanks...Lee |
