PowerChip Installed!

Just purchased PowerChip for my E430. They overnight you a FedEx padded courier bag and prepaid label. You overnight them your ECU box. They change out the chip and overnight it back.

Just got the car back. We dropped the ECU box in, reconnected everything, and BOOM! she fired right up. I supposedly now have 299 hp and 317 ft. lbs. torque.

Only drove the 5 miles home in light traffic, so cannot provide full report at this time. However, at first blush, it appears to pull much stronger and smoother in the mid-range. They say it takes 100 miles for car to "recalibrate" and "learn" new chip programming. I will post a complete evaluation after I drive it a while.

VROOOOOOOOM!

I bought mine through Performance Products. They had a 10% off sale from retail. You can also buy them directly thru PowerChip. Wish I had bought from PP earlier, because they had them for $640. By the time I was ready to buy, they had raised the price. Retail is $840.

Car really gets on it from about 3000 rpm up. Can feel the additional torque more than anything. Seems smoother on acceleration. More details later.

www.powerchipgroup.com

Been running the PC software for about 1.5 year now...good results, part throttle is much improved. However, 299 hp & 317 tq claim are peak numbers and bit optimistic, if I recall correctly I gain 13hp at the rollers with the PC 93 Gold.

I got one and it made the car run rich, almost messed up the cat. I took it out for smog test to get it passed, and the cat wasnt quite perfect so i left it out to prevent further damage. I think it needs to get more air to go with the extra fuel.

Did you contact the guys at PowerChip about the problem? They have awesome customer service. Might just need to replace the chip.

I'll see what they have to say. I got it like 2 years ago, and it did run better and faster at freeway speeds, got a whole lot better fuel economy??? but it felt more sluggish starting out. But just in case I dont have any problem porting my headers and a nice exhaust setup with nice throttle body or something if I have to. :p

The powerchip guy said the higher octane is what burned my cat? I dunno, I thought that high octane is good for the converter. Maybe I'm missing something, but that sounds wrong to me?
