Wanted: The Truth About Brembo Drilled Rotors
OK, someone out there has got to know the answer to this. I am looking for a set of Brembo DRILLED sport replacement rotors for my 2000 E430. I am searching the Internet high and low.
Several sites (including Fastlane) list a set of FRONTS. Some sites list REARS, but no fronts. I go to the Brembo Web site, download their catalog and search it. It appears that they DO NOT list a set of FRONT drilled rotors for my car. They list a set that fits most E-Class cars except mine (part #35486). They DO list a set of rears (part #35205 or RD00053?). I want a set of 4 front and rear Brembo drilled rotors. What is up with this mis-information? DOES ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE BREMBO DRILLED ROTORS ON THE FRONT OF THEIR E430?

Order a set of Brembo solid rotors and have them drilled. A lot of brake specialty stores will do this and sell you "drilled Brembos" that are not drilled by Brembo at the factory, but instead by the place selling you the rotor. This also gives you some flexibility on the number of holes, pattern, etc. FWIW, I'm not a huge fan of drilled rotors, they tend to get hairline cracks by the holes. But, they look trick, and sound cool when you brake (nice "whirring" noise.)

Well, after checking Brembo's catalog, it seems they do NOT list a part for 2000-2002 E430 Front drilled rotors. I called Race Specialities, one of Brembo's largest distributors and talked to a very nice, knowledgeable fellow named Bob. He says indeed they DO make a front drilled rotor (as well as rear) for our cars. He didn't know why they were not listed in the catalog. Here are the part numbers he provided:
Front: FD00091 Rear: RD00053 The cheapest I have found them online is $368 shipped for all 4 from www.buybrakes.com. Guess I will find out if they fit or not. In addition, the parts manager at the local M-B dealer said he lists the same front rotor for all W210.

Cool! And your dealer is almost correct. Most of the W210's used the same front rotor, part number 210-421-22-12. The two exceptions are the 1996-97 E300 diesel (smaller rotor), and of course the E55 AMG (bigger rotor).

Yes, good point, GSXR.....about the diesel and AMG. By the way, you got a Suzuki bike?

I used to roadrace a GSX-R750, but I sold it when I moved from CA to ID. (I still regret selling the bike - oh well.) Now I have an Aprilia Mille RSV-R, which is also a nice bike...
