hi, i just recently purchased a set of progressive eibachs for my 89 300e...i've checked the tirerack page and for lowering height, they simply indicate "pad." i understand that mercedes uses differnt thickness pads to adjust the height, but how much would the eibachs lower my car, with no change in spring pads? how much lower will my car sit simply by changing the springs...also, i have read a couple of posts that says a 5mm change in thickness will result in a half inch drop? is this true? i am going to run 17x8 anteras soon with the springs..will going to the eibachs AND changing to bump 1 result in any rubbing? i dont really push my car to the limits, its more for the looks...any suggestions and what is the compromise between different spring pads with the eibachs on the overall comfort of the ride? thanks for all the help..appreciate it...

I am using a #2 pad in the front and #1 in the rear with H&R Sport springs. It leaves about a 1 1/2'' gap for both the front and rear.

Your rims' offset will also determine if the wheel will rub against the inside fender lip. In my case, I had my fenders rolled to ensure that the wheels would not rub since I'm using 19'' rims.

Remember that going too low may create alignment problems that cannot be adjusted which leads to premature tire wear.

I hope this helps.

edict,

You won't get that much drop from the pads. 5mm does not equal 1/2 inch.

12.5mm equal 1/2 inch and 25mm equals 1 inch.

ATTENTION:
The amount raised is close to double the pad thickness because of the location of the spring on the control arm, about half way between the pivot point and the ball joint.
1 nib 8mm
2 nib 13mm
3 nib 18mm
4 nib 23mm.
Use the next smaller size and fine adjust using tire sidewall pieces or conveyor belting cut to fit.
Good luck,
