Can anyone advise me on the best ABS compatable brake fluid for track use (high temp)? I've been using Castrol SRF with Performance Friction HP pads and I'm not happy with the results. Lots of fade/non-existant brakes when hot.
Suggestions? Gary ------------------ http://clubs.snap.com/mercedesbenze55registry/index.lhtml 00 AMG E55 96 DCM Impala SS 94 ZR-1 81 Corvette Cpe |

With 3 years racing on factory Benz fluid & no problems w/fade, I suggest you stay with it. I flush a 1/2 liter before every event. With fresh fluid the boiling point is above 500F.
Perhaps the problem is the pads, street performace pads are'nt upto true racing temperatures. |

I use ATE "super blue" in my race and street cars with no problems. My race car has "hawk-blue compound" pads from Carbotec engineering in Florida.

Like Alain we use super blue and like MB Doc we change it every weekend. I think your problem is your ABS is trying to overcome pad fad as well as fluid boiling. We have put an Abs kill switch on our race cars. If you are not used to running without Abs be careful with PFC pads it will lockup the wheels. Also try bigger air ducts to the front brakes.

I've tried a new fluid that Valvoline has come out with and have had good results. It's a synthetic DOT 4 fluid. Not silicone based. Very high wet boiling point.

Thanks guys. I planned on switching to the ATE super blue. I think the problem is the pads. After the last track event the rotors were glazed. I need to find a good compromise of race/street pads cause my back surgery prohibits pad changes from street to track. Since Pocono isn't such a braking intensive course, it doesn't present that much of a problem now, but Lime Rock & Summit Point are the killers!

zrusny - As Alain V. suggested earlier, I highly recommend you call and discuss your needs with Larry at Carbotech Engineering in Ft Laurderdale, FL. Toll free number is 1-877-899-5024. He is an excellent source for all your brake needs, including street, strip, auto-X, and track. An excellent compound that he developed is his "Kelated Metallic" compound for brake pads. Maybe just the ticket for your aggressive street/mild on-track requirements. I have a 400+ HP Mustang that I run his "Kelated Metallics" on the street and for auto-Xing, and then swap out the fronts with Hawk Blues for on-track events, such as Car Guys at Summit Point, WV. The right compound pad makes all the difference in an OEM brake set up, along with Motul 600 hi-temp brake fluid. Good luck.
