97 C230 suspension ideas
My car is feeling a bit too flaoty above 65, yet I do like the suppleness the factory setup gives. What about the ~99 C230 Kompressor Sport suspension? Both cars are 4cyl models so I would think it would be a direct fit. Anybody done an OEM Sport conversion?

I have a '94 C280, and wanted to tighten up the suspension as I also found it too floaty. The first thing I did was go "plus 1" on the wheel/tire package, to a 16 inch rim and a 205 55 V-rated tire. That took some of the bounce out of the suspension. Then I changed to the Bilstein HD shocks, which also firmed up the ride a bit, but not too much. You can use the HD's with your stock springs, but if you went with the Bilstein Sports you should really get performance springs as the Sport shocks are designed to work with the lowered stance. I'll go with the Eibach sway bar kit next spring to try and take some of the body roll out of the car.
Hope that helps. Jonathan |

Good ideas
I think jlomon has made some very good suggestions. Lowering the car creates quite a few issues. +1 wheels and tires, Bilstein HD shocks, and big swaybars are the way to a great handling car with no problems.

I bit the bullet and got a good deal on some 17x7.5 AMG split-spoke wheels (a la C32/SLK32) and they are FANTASTIC. I do not want to lower the car, it's just impossible to find a firmer spring that drops less than 1 inch, which is all I would consider. The ride and steering firmed up quite a bit with the new setup. I don't think the suspension is a problem, just the 65 series Continentals I removed. If I change anything it would be a sway bar. Who makes them for the 202?
