Any info on sport shocks would be appreacited. Does it really makes difference in terms of ride quality?? Is it stiffer than non-sport shock? Does mercedes shop carry those?? How much are they on average? How many hrs. of labor? Will benz dealer put them on??
Thanks

The sport shocks/struts are necessary only if you have changed to a significantly higher spring rate. The springs will overpower the stock dampening giving a less controlled ride. Additionally, if you have lowered the car by more than an inch you may need shorter dampening units. Sport units will increase ride harshness. You may want to go with Koni adjustable or double adj. units instead of the Bilstein sport units. What is your goal? Do you use the car for track events?

the sport strut/shocks are shorter and about 15% stiffer. HD struts/shocks are 15% stiffer and OEM length. Sport struts should only be used with shorter springs. Ride height is set by the springs not struts.

Thanks a lot for this useful info you provided. Well, yeah, I am dropping my car more than 2 inches. You said that the sport strut/shocks are shorter. Does this have anything to with ride height? From what you said, only springs will determine ride height. I just want to make sure I got that right. Anyway, what is HD struts/shocks?? Is it better or more expensive than sport struts/shock?? Sorry i am not very familiar with suspension mechanism. finally, are struts seperate units or are they part of shock component? I guess I will have to buy both? Thanks~
