Hello there,
I know I should be posting this message on the Bekkers forum, but I can never seem to get any help over there. Has anyone here stroked their 2.3-16V to a 2.6L displacement? I've been quoted around 235HP like the EVO II model, but how about Torque? I'm strongly considering this conversion now that I've built up a little bit of funds, but I want to know if it will be a big improvement or not. It is $4,250 and that is a pretty good sum of money for me. I just don't want to do this conversion and then be dissappointed. Like get beat by Mini Vans or Ford Taurus' :-). So, what other cars can a 2.6-16V be compared to? Thanks for the help. Regards, Clinton Davis '86 190E 2.3-16V |
If you are ready to drop nearly $5K on something from them Bekkers should be able to give you more than just a HP number. If they have done any kind of development work it should have torque and HP specs, hopefully a dyno chart, perhaps some 1/4 mile timeslips or even some G-tech info. I doubt any of us would think less of you for insisting on more info from them before you plunk down your cash.
Just my opinion...Lee [This message has been edited by Lee Scheeler (edited 04-23-2000).] |
Since MB built & sold these parts on the regular 2.5 16V, they ars off the shelf oe parts. The EVO was a completely different engine!

This consists of bearings, seals, gaskets, timing chain and rails.; Forged lightweight pistons with your choice of compression ratios: 10.8 (street) or 12.12 (racing) or 8.5 (for turbocharger); Set of Mercedes rods; Original Mercedes stroker crank*; 2 high performance camshafts 252 (mild) or 276 (wild) degree duration; Machining instructions. I'm just wanting the performance gains. Not only HP #'s. Thank you. Regards, Clinton Davis '86 190E 2.3-16V |
Many promises & few deliveries in the HP arena are true.

Here's an idea- why not go to Ebay and buy an old article on the Evo2, that should give you all the specs you would want.
Also, there is a real Evo2 for sale in the UK (LHD Euro spec) for 14,000 pounds, if you can deal with the EPA that is! David Hendy 500E '92 |
