The tremec tko 500/600 is set up to have multiple shifter locations available. If you were more concearned with having a manual trans rather than the # of gears a tko could be fitted pretty easily, is plenty strong, and they are easy to find and inexpensive. Would anyone be interested in buying a bell housing for a 119 to a tko? If there is enough interest I would consider making a few.

That is what I would use also but 500/600TKOs sell new in the $1850-1950 range but older 3550/TKO (475 ft/lb) trannies sell for the $1000-1200 range and would hold up also under a street driven car. The 500/600TKO is so new there aren't many used ones to be found yet.
How much $$ are we talking here for the bellhousing?? I'd consider it now because I just lost reverse in my everyday 400E and may pull the 3550/TKO out of my 190 to repair it!

If you can make that work.I'll buy three of the complete set-ups to start, and retail them for you,and a rate siutable for both of us.I know you can market this. The three I want now,are for myself, andy additional ones will hit the market like wild fire I assure you.I'm participating in this years Cannonball run,USA.I'd love to have a sixer,or any standard in my 560SEC,AMG,EURO.car as soon as you can make me one.Can you get it done by July?Atleast one?The event is the last week of July/first week of August, but need time for swap/engineering mods.At whatever price tag you put on the thing I'm interested, more than anyone else you've mentioned it to.I assure you of this.Give me a call,My name is Nick, and number is (203)812-8136.We can talk about it.I'll come out to you and we can install it together,if you want.

If it will fit in my 190 tunnel I have no doubt it will fit in a 124 tunnel. If not, there are hammers (persuaders) that will enable it to go in!!

Wis,
Depending on cost, I would be interested in a TKO bell housing for M119.

Wis,
The bellhousing you're considering making, would it be a full bellhousing for an 11" clutch or smaller to fit in the tunnel? Flywheel? Pilot bearing? Throwout fork or hydraulic bearing (Tilton/McLeod) on the input guide sleeve?
What sort of timeframe do you think it would take to provide?

Thanks...for all of us interested to know,

I think it would be easier for everyone if I made it smaller to fit in the trans tunnel easier. There are plenty of suitable 10-10.5'' clutches for pretty much anything we could put in front of it. As for the acuation setup I have not figured it out yet I think an internal slave cyl/throwout bearing would the best way to go. I would like to set everything up to use as many common (reasonably priced) components as possible. I need to see what is available for clutch pedal and master cyl. What kind of cars are you guys wanting to convert?

W124 for me. Either my '94 E500 or maybe a similar vintage E420/400E. Factory W124 clutch pedal assemblies are available from the '86/'88 300E so that shouldn't be a problem. The W201 clutch pedal will work as well.

Are you guys looking for a kit, or a complete install? If I do decide to make these things I will be able to offer both, but I will have to probably do at least one install on each common model (engine and chassis) first before I can offer a kit.

A kit with bellhousing, flywheel, clutch cylinder, and modified driveshaft would be great.

Wis,
Until you do one, you won't know the clutch pedal pressure you'll have. When I did my 190 and used the stock 190 clutch master combined with a SPEC stage 3 clutch and McLeod hydraulic T/O setup, I ended up with 88 lbs of pedal pressure. Way too high and was afraid the aluminum pedal would crack!
To solve this I sleeved the master cylinder to 5/8" and reduced the pressure to a reasonable 55 lbs. Now it has a great feel.
This is all behind 450hp and 410 torque feeding into a 3550 TKO into a T'Bird
8.8 IRS differential.
My manual conversion would be to my '93 400E which just lost reverse.
Out of curiousity, where are you located?

six speed

I NEED a six speed for my 98' sl600. Preferably the bmw six speed in the 850i. I also would be interested in a six speed for the sl500. I know tons of people that would buy this option.

IMHO the BMW 850i (v12) was only with automatic gearbox.

The 840i had a 6speed Getrag as an option/standard.

The costs of a manual gearbox in such cars (Sl600's) would be in the range of 5000 -8000 dollar/euro I suppose, if you dont do it yourself.
I personally dont think there would be a lot of people willing to pay that amount for a manual box.
