Does anyone know if there is a Coil over system made for the 16 valve? Also, would a coil over system be a better upgrade than H&R Springs with Heavy Duty Bilsteins?
Thanks all...

I just installed adjustable "threaded" rear spring perches on the back of my 16v racecar from Delsing motorsport. They are simple to install and allow you to use 2.25 diameter springs that are available in many rates from most spring manufacturers. I still use a seperate shock mounted in the original location. The cool thing about this set up is that I can now adjust my rear ride height or change rear springs very easily.

I am also planning on doing the same thing in the front as soon as the parts are available.

Now, if you really want to,,, you can use a "real" coil over shok/spring set up,(on the rear) but you will have to do some modifying and fabricating. Basically, you will need to make some holes through the floor in the trunk and weld a bar across the rear for an upper mount location. This is what I have seen on some 124 chassis
Renntech cars.
Since the fromt of a 201 chassis car has only a lower control arm and no upper, (because the shock also supports the spindle)(and the shock sits sooo close to the tire) it would be a major front suspension re-design to put coil overs on the fron end.

No problem with the front if you install an upper control arm which most of all good racecar designers have. You get easier control of camber, caster and anti-brake dive. Use the front spindles off a late 560SL and keep the big brakes while at it. The lower ball joint is the same as a 201/124 and the upper can be attached to a fabricated A-arm and body attachments. This also enables one to use much wider front wheel/tire widths which has less understeer.
The best of inexpensive availibilty.

Tobias, One thing you have to consider (for those of us who race in the SCCA) is that there are strict rules on what modifications are allowed.Changing from a strut type to a doulble a-arm front end would put me into a class where there are nothing but tubeframe $100k cars competing.
Of course for street use, that isn't a problem.
