Please excuse my post here since I'm not a 500E owner but I have seen the tail lights of Michaels 500E-they're very nice! Does anyone know how many examples of this model were produced? I think it would also be really cool to have a list of owners organized by state with phone #'s for anyone who wanted to be included. It would come in handy say if you're driving out of state and had a car problem. You could call on one of your brothers/sisters for advice or a hand.
Looks likes there's enough of you to get a club rate for a high performance driving school. Anyone?

21 so far!

Well, gentlemen, there's a pretty good number of us on here! 21 cars, 10 colors, mild to fairly wild...would make a nice picture, eh?

Let's hope the list grows further...the better the deal to be made at a regional track (Thanks Gary for the idea!)

Michael,

A gathering sounds like a good plan. I believe Dean made the observation several months ago that there should have been a tad more Mercedes participating at the Silver State Classic in Nevada. This may seem a little extreme to some but it is a timed trial and you set your pace. After all, this is what the car was build for! Perhaps I am getting ahead of myself (again)?

Now a driving school would be a great start! Should have no problem selling this one.

Hey, we may even have to get into contact will Lee and see if his schooling can allow a break for the event, whatever that might be?

I would be game as soon as I get the car in shape, and as soon as my wife agree's. She is always warning not to not even think of autocrossing the car but that all seems to change when I suggest that she come along and do some of the Driving!

I am sure you are thinking of an event / driving school on the East Coast?

Sorry, but I am still a little illiterate in my response methods. I think in my excitement I attached to Michaels message. Here is a stand alone response.

The Photo suggestion was a great one. I would willingly provide a photo of mine with Phone numbers available for others in need while traveling through the carolinas.

24 and counting...

Well, this is likely the 500E population, give or take the occasional infrequent visitor. I guess the next step is to stake out a potential gathering or two (or three). I think we need to look at East, Central, and West gigs. I'll be happy to take responsibility for helping to line up an East Coast thing; the other two I'd be happy to share ideas on. I think an appropriate gathering has to involve racing; I'm not looking to hold High Tea, are you guys?!? So, one nice combo worth considering is a drag & autocross deal. Englishtown, NJ offers such a setup. I don't know what tracks would do what kind of volume/marque deal (and what the tech inspection would involve) but ANYONE please chime in with suggestions. And if anyone knows who I can contact at MBUSA let me know.

Who'd be interested in taking Point on coordinating a Central USA event? West?? And who'd show for the Next Running of the Benzes East-I humbly suggest open MBZ owner attendance, but anyone with a 500E MUST race it

Oh, and that goes for you AMG guys, too, as well as 6.3s, 6.9s, and 2.3-16s (and if an Evo comes down from Canada, it'd better plan to stretch its legs).

Any and all responses welcomed at this point. Thanks everyone for posting!

Track time

Trackmasters might do a meet. Try them. I know that the BMWCCA has held functions at Watkins Glen where you can drive your own car, Trackmasters was there too.
Lime Rock has similar deals.
