why didnt you go with 19s on your 55? i have some 19s on order and cant find pilot sports in 265/19! i will have to go to AVS sports. you have previouly said that 275s will work on the rear. as you know the 55 fenders are pretty rolled from the factory. i am going to try AVS 275s (no 275s either) with 19X9.5 brabus' when they get in. i dont drive fast over bumps anyway so it shouldnt be a problem even if i change the spring pads. still long way to go on the break in, but as you know, 3K will still get you going fast in a hurry!! isnt the handling on this car incredible?? i spoke the the H and R guy @ the SEMA show and H and R makes the springs for the DTM car. the springs have the H and R logo and AMG. he wouldnt come out and say if the 55s were H and Rs but they must be. i have read alot about the H and R factory and their process of making springs and clearly they know what they are doing...any cool info on this masterpiece that you would like to share, let me know...

personally i prefer the 18's both aesthetically and performance wise but thats just my opinion....also I live in NYC...so I need more rubber under me...It would not surprise me one bit that H&R make the 55 springs...they are very good...just for your info...I love the Pilot Sports...dramatically improves the steering response of the 55...I am extremely happy with my wheel and tire combo.
I think you will have some difficulty fitting 275 19...our opinion is that you would definitly have to roll the fenders more... Good Luck See the pics I just posted |
thanks for the input. i saw your car on "the other" board. it turned out very nice. see my questions there. i agree that if the road surfaces here were not as smooth as they are, i would not consider the 19s. to bend an expensive wheel because of a pot hole would be very painful. no problems with snow, ice, or potholes here, thank god. i will think more about the 265s vs the 275s.
