Dsinger I like your 300e. I think what would look nice is if you painted your bumper and moldings to match your car. Thats what I did with my car and it looks fabulous. I like the euro lights by the way. I'll try to post a picture of my car when I get rims for it, probably in a month or two.

Nice cars. I'm going to scan mine soon. BTW Is it true that the w140's have bulletproof glass. Oh jco, I wonder why all the cool mercedes are all in areas like Brooklyn and Queens, not In suburbs. :)

W140 can be had with bulletproof equipments from factory, but as W140 has double-paned side windows, many may mistake it for bulletproof glass.

One funny story is that I was going home at night(around 11:30 PM), and encountered a road-block(drinking & driving counter-attack). I rolled my window 2/3 down and the officer was starring at the window while asking if I have had drinks that night. He then ask me to roll the window all the way down and up againt, and said "That's hella thick of a glass for side windows", so I replied, "Yes Sir, it's double-paned glass, German engineering!!:D" And drove away with his mouth wide opened!!! You should see his face when he realize that the side window glass is REALLY that thick and not some young punk modified to smuggle drugs inside of door panel.

Well I have griven a few w140's recently becasue I am in the market for one. I noticed they have really thick glass and the dealer told me its bulletproof. I have looked at a few s320's, and came colse to buying one. Upon picking the car up for inspection , I found out that it was in a really bad accident. Upon checking Carfax etc, the car was severly damgaed, purchased buy a body shop, fixed and sold to a unsuspecting buyer, who then tried to sell it to me (unsuspoectingly) He is know filling suit agaisnt that body shop, and I was angry that I missed such a great deal. I am looking at a 400SE today. Akry what is your gas milage? Also I noticed that after completing a turn the w140's steering wheel's don't turn back by themselves, you have to turn them out. On my 300E as soon as I get out of a turn I just get on the gas and the wheel comes about by itself.

akry 12-25-2000 02:28 AM

With full tank of gas, I can do about 375-380km(65% City, 35% highway), and drop to about 320-330km if I really push her hard. Go for V8 W140s if you can....they give the BEST compromise between MPG and Performance, IMO...

As for steering wheel, it turns back when the car is at motion(say, 5-10mph and above)...but at extrem low speed(let go of gas and let it glide forward), the steering won't return.....and that's normal.. :D

I like the mercedes 24 valve straight six that is in the s320, however I might go with a v-8 model. i'm searching around and looking for a mint car, with lower miles, in the mid 90's and not a astronomical price (one guys wanted 48K for a 95 s320 that was mint and had 50,000 miles on it. I really love the way w140's feel on the road.: More solid than my 300E and they feel like a tank. :) I love the ride in it. However paralell parking must be a ***** :)

Dsinger,

Isn't that front tag from Boblingen in Germany? That's where I bought my 1st MB a 280E on the 123 body style when I lived in England. Also did a tour of the Benz factory on one of my trips there.

Dan,

What brand are the Euro lamps? Also does anyone if you can put the original fog light bulbs in? I wouldn't want to lose that look as it gives it a distinctive look. Also, Dan on your clear corners...are those yellow or clear bulbs?

Regards,

Sam
