One Lap of America 2005
Hey all,
Just a note. If anyone here follows Car and Driver's One Lap of America, keep a lookout for a 190E 2.3-16 that my shop has modified for driver Jack Baruth. You'll see my shop's name emblazoned along the sides of the car and hopefully also see it in the top finishers! We went through the standard race mods which also included removing the self-leveling suspension and installing Bilstein Sport shocks and H&R springs in place of the original setup. We also dumped the stock front suspension for the Bilstein/H&R setup. After this work, the feedback was that the car has very neutral handling, a good thing for a four door sedan! Although some oversteer was noted at the first test and tune track session. One thing that we were having trouble with is finding some good race compound brake pads. I know EBC makes Greenstuff pads for the front only on the 16V but since we're running Ate Super Blue in the brake system, we went with stock Textars front and rear, at least for a couple test and tune sessions. If they aren't up to the task, we'll upgrade to the EBC pads for the front and leave the Textars in the back. As for rolling stock, we went with AMG 203 type rims and Jack chose Kumho Ecsta MX tires as he was used to those on his SCCA Miata.

Aaron, where abouts in Cinci is your shop located? Sometime when driving through would you mind if I stopped by and took a look at your shop?
Thanks David

David,
You are always welcome to stop in and say hi! Remember though that we will be gone next week for the One Lap. Just plug my shop's address at the bottom of my signature into Mapquest.

Arron .... I'm a little late posting but Porterfield makes pads for the 16-valve. I have the R-4S pads on both the front and rear that have worked well for me on the track. I believe that the other Porterfield pad compounds are available. You need to talk to them verses using the web pad/car program.

i run PBR metal masters and brembo crossdrilled rotors...they do the job for me when im at the track...we only run 20min sessions, so anything over than, im not sure how they would hold up.
