One Lap of America 2005 pictures
Hey all,
Just some pics from yesterday's first event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Park. The 190's running flawlessly, dismissing M3s with ease. Gotta love the sound of a Cosworth-massaged engine at full song!

Ryan,
Believe it or not, this car has a whopping 236K miles behind it! As for mods, we didn't do anything too radical, basically a complete brake overhaul (all steel lines, new pads, calipers, hoses and rotors), some typical items to the engine (water pump, belt, belt tensioner, timing chain and tensioner, valve adjustment, new plugs, cap, rotor, wires, coil, etc....). We changed all of the fluids using Agip 5W-40 full synthetic oil in the engine and MB synthetic ATF with a dose of Lubro Moly MoS 2 Antifriction Additive in the gearbox, we also changed the brake fluid with Ate Super Blue hi-temp type and finally removed all of the stock suspension, rebuilt the front and rear ends (new bushings, ball joints, links, etc..) and swapped in Bilstein Sport shocks front and rear (which obviously deleted the SLS system) and coupled those to H&R sport springs. I put in the thinnest spring shims from MB, reset the alignment and that's about it. The car ran perfectly the entire week with ZERO mechanical issues, while new WRXs and Corvettes were dropping like flies. And I literally just arrived home from a 1,200 mile trip down to North Carolina for the 2005 Appalachian Moonshine Rallye, in which the car continued to perform without incident. What a ride!

Great looking 16V !! Nice feeling when your 20 year old car smacks down newer and faster rides.
How come you dropped out of the 1 Lap again this year Michael ? |

Ugh...another accident for you Micheal?....a shame really; you have had the absolute worst luck the past few years. Hope there were no injuries.
And hope the 944 is made all better !!... as well as the 500E. Canton Transmission says 'hi' btw. |

Huh
Glad to see that you were able to complete the event with out problem. The results on the 1 Lap web site don't seem to support your claim to being faster than any of the M3s. Any explanation?

Look at the results from each track. We did a number of M3s in, and in the OVERALL, bettered an M5 and a supercharged Dinan M roadster.
We're using Kumho Ecsta MX tires. Not my choice but our driver had a lot of experience with them in SCCA events. I would have gone with Pirelli P Zeros or Michelin PS2s myself but hey, I'm just the mechanic
