I have been waiting for an answer to your question. I suspect not as if your ASR light comes on, the engine switches to "going home" mode. Going home is an over statement as the car becomes almost un-driveable. When that condition occured to me, I could not find any way to disable the system.

There are two different things here. ASR properly is the traction control. Its activation is noted by the yellow triangle in the center of the dash. This comes on when the wheels slip and goes off when they stop slipping (caused by application of the brakes to the slippin wheel.

The dreaded ASR limp home mode is the ASR warning light on the lower part of the dash. This will come on red and stay on that is when the car becomes almost undrivable.

Sorry I donk know of a simple ASR defeat switch. The Mercedes publication The Star listed the two contact switch at the brakes (one goes to brake lights one goes to ASR) if you ground that set of wires supposedly the ASR is off. I dont think it works as others have commented. This spring I tried the cheap method to verify. Applying the brakes slightly while stepping on the gas (when there was lots of sand on the road to aid tire slip). It spun the ires some but then behaved like a rev limiter cut in.

Good luck
Paul
