With all the talk about points to congregate, I thought I would check and see if anyone is going to Daytona Feb. 1-4?
I realize this is a hike for most of the members, but thought I would take a poll anyway. (Tobias? perhaps?).
We already have a group of 4 friends going. It will be the first major trip for my 500E and my friends C-5. It would be nice to hook up with any 500E'ers that might be down there.

why are you going to be there feb 1-4th?? the 500 is on the 18th. i will be @ the 500..

I attended the 24 Hour race last year. It was great! Too bad I can't go this year. MB Autowerks is kinda taking all of my time. It will be interesting to see how the Earnhardt father-son team do in the Corvette.

I hear they have a little 500 mile sprint race on that same track sometime around the middle of Feb

You are correct but all they do is turn LEFT and don't have much use for brakes unless getting gas!!!

Hey, YES I will be at the 24 Hours of Daytona race this year. Already got my tickets. Have been going on and off since 1983. One of the biggest rushes I have ever had at a racetrack. To see and hear the sports cars on the high banks at night is an unforgettable experience. The infield crowd is a trip. Unfortunately, I will not be driving my E430 Sport-flying Delta. Staying on the beach at the Hilton. Where you staying? Check out Down The Hatch if you want some killer seafood.

We are staying at the Beach Comer Inn Daytona Beach. We'll try to catch up with you when we arrive. An RX-7 twin turbo has decided to join our caravan. I will be arriving via Air Benz Flight 500E. Look us up.

PS I managed to get a thrill ride in a brand new 911Turbo. 0 to 110 to 0. What a rush. It was at night. He said maybe next time I could drive it. The power band is unbelievable from 1500 to 6000. He had just returned from the hospital for some testing, when his wife asked him to take us for a spin. He said, sure. What a Guy. A real car buff. I am not sure I would have been up to taking a stranger to ride after a day in the hospital.

PS to Tobias,
The Orange Beast (74 Carrera Targa, 3.0 Turbo)is back together. Plan to fire it up this weekend. How's progress on the 5.6L in the 190E??

Hope it fires off OK and the clutch stays together...drive it cool so you can sell it and dump some extras on to the 500E!

On the 190, the crankshaft assembly is out being balanced at the moment but should see it next week so reassembly can commence. Looking for 350-370HP which will be nice in a 2980lb sedan!
