Very shortly I will have to replace the front section of my exhaust system.
I am going to replace it with a stainless steel item probably custom made and was wondering whether to leave the first exhaust box out. What I want to achieve is a slightly more sporty sound without being unrefined and hopefully some increase in power and reduction in back pressure bearing in mind the prospect of replacing the remainder a little later with the same aims in mind. Does anyone have any experience with this type of modification and if so what was the result? Many thanks in advance. SARGE |
If you are having this custom made, you could easily go with a performance catalytic converter and sport muffler.

I too am planning to change the exhuast system on my 190E 2.6. Many people claim that the Remus system specifically for the 2.6 stick out too much... I personally don't like the look either. With that, I'm planning to replace the muffler with a universal Remus Rallye DTM muffler.
My question is ... Where can I find an aftermarket high-flow performance catalytic converter for my 2.6 to work in conjunction with my new Remus? Will this performance catalytic converter bring any noticable power gains and contribute to the tone of the Remus muffler? Thanks. |
Wanting to know if this works guys. Not looking for a lot more power or anything, but I think this engine's real shortcoming is that it can't breathe freely enough. It actually feels like it's fighting for breath all the way through its RPM range.
