My car dose not have one (the switch that makes the car downshift if you smash the gas, the button under the gas petal). My 95 E320 has one why not the V8. Their is a hole in the carpet where the switch should be but it is not there.

Do any other E420/400E owners not have this kickdown switch or is it only me.

How about you 500E owners does your car have one.

The same button's in both of my cars. Sounds like something's awry...try removing the snapped-in OE carpet; now can you see any part of the switch? I've had the top of the switch (which comes in contact with the pedal)come off and disable the switch; real easy to tell on the 500 since I couldn't even get it into first with my heavy right foot!

I found the loose portion on the floor and clipped it back in place; good as new.

Good luck!

My 500E has ASR; my 300TE does not. However, I'd add that they have an identical-appearing switch.

On the 1994 & later W124 chassis (M119 engines) w/ASR traction system, they use EA to allow kickdown.

My car does not have ASR.
What is EA (Eletronic)?
My E420 dose not downshift like the E320.
I will go and try it and see if it will.

I Found it!!!
The top of the switch was at the base of the gas petal. I put it back on the switch and now it works as good as new.
The switch has been off ever since i bought the car, now i have true passing power.

Thank You Michale for the advice.
